Samsung Fax/phone model 1600

Hi - we have an aged Samsung fax/phone model 1600 that has started to cut off a 5cm strip of fax paper after each phone call. Is there a reason - we'd like to stop it as it's using fax paper unnecessarily.

You could try opening the feeder and clean the gray rollers with mentholated spirits and see how that helps as it just maybe the rollers are slipping slightly.

Once you have done the above take out all of the paper from the back feed and using one sheet blot the leading edge with some spirit and place back into the machine (The back of it) then try coping something there will be a paper jam and do this a couple of times. Once you have done this wipe the area dry put new paper in and then try doing a copy and the paper should feed perfectly now and the test will come when fax comes in.

The thermal transfer paper tore during process how do I fix it? I removed the cartridge but now the fax paper just sit in tray while the rollers rolls.

Cartridge? There is no print cartridge in a thermal fax. Maybe you removed the thermal print head. Put it back! You simply need to "thread" the fax paper back through the slot that leads to the cutter mechanism. When you close the lid the rollers will pick up the paper and cut off a fresh strip. Locate the long slot for the paper.
