Does the high voltage wire in my rca rp tv come off the transformer or off the crt tube?

How long u have this RCA analoge tv?Around 10 years or more and used it like about 5 or 6 hrs everydays?Yes,than ur tv it is losing CRT tube radiation cohetion.As times go bye years in years out the tv CRT-(tv tube) radiation will slowly dying out,Tv actual pictures will lost some of it luster and it brightnesses to the tv auctual pictures.Brightnesses of CRT tube will get darker and darker until the tv actual pictures barely it is watchable anymore.Contrast,Brightness and Colors adjusting more will help some.But u have to take this tv aparts and take a Flat scerw driver turn up a little bit more of the tv HV-(high voltage) SCREEN button on the FBT-(flyback transformer) to make any big differences of the CRT tube brightnesses.The FBT-(flyback tranformer) is the big block of plastic with a red wire with a black cap hook up to the tv CRT-(tv tube).This adjustment on of the FBT,HV-SCREEN button will help the tv CRT-(tv tube) last another year or two.

The set has a high voltage problem, "the flyack transformer is defective" It generates the high voltage in the picture tube and with the help of the video circuits it produces a picture. It is not cost effective to repair the tv, cheaper to replace.

First, you will want to isolate the problem. Is it feedback from an AC outlet you have it plugged into? That my friend is the high voltage transformer with a tiny pin hole allowing the high voltage to arc to ground. The red wire going to the picture tube is carrying 30 thousand volts to the anode connection on the CRT. This is not a consumer replaceable part as the CRT can retain healty voltages even when off. Refer to a local TV technician.

It is usually large and black. Its the one with the rather thick red wire coming out of it. The other end of that wire either connects directly to the picture tube or into a distribution block which distributes the high voltage to the 3 picture tubes (guns) in projection TV's. Be aware that this transformer produces high voltage and can store voltage even when the set is unplugged. I hope this helps.

Just replace it... it is called the High Voltage Splitter. One red wire is the high voltage input from the flyback (high voltage) transformer, 3 red wires are the high voltage outputs that go to the 3 picture tubes and the red wire by itself is the focus wire going to the focus block. Does your splitter have a small PC board on the side of it? What is the exact model or chassis number of your set? With that info I can give you the RCA part number of the splitter which makes ordering it much easier.
