Reddy Heater keeps shutting down

I plugged my Reddy Heater in, pushed the button, it fired, pushed heat and then after maybe 15-20 seconds, it shut down.  If I push the button it will again fire and push heat and then shut down after 15-20 seconds.  What do I need to do?

What is a cad cell? I just found a site where I can down load the parts list for this heater.....but I don't see a cad cell listed.

I have the same problem. The unit runs for 10 to 20 seconds after I release the gas button. The only way I can get this unit to run is to constantly hold down the gas button.

My 50,000 btu Reddi heater fires right up and I get heat and volume for about 5 seconds before it shuts off. My kerosene is probably 3 or 4 years old, could that be the problem? jimhks

My heater works for 3 - 5 minutes, then shuts off. The time it stays on after the re-start varies. The thermal coupling seems to be ok.

Hi, My heater shuts down after a few minutes until finally it won't relight at all, l l suspect it's thermo couple.. I just simply rigged the spring push button down with a clip made out of a fork.. Not to sure how safe it is.. But wa laaahhh. Thermo couple bypassed!!

Check your cad cell. replace this. it is not detecting a flame. replacing the cad cell will fix your problem. when it shuts down it goes into lockout.

please go to this site www [dot] desatech [dot] com. It is the main service center for reddy heaters. It's the same place I get parts for heaters I repair.

I tried to go to www.desatech.com and you cannot buy parts on that site anymore. I can get my Reddy Heater parts at www.masterparts.net.

I had the same problem, and it turned out to be the seal on the fuel cap. I replaced the seal, and it runs like a champ.

I have an R50 Reddy heater. It will start and run and heat for about 4 mins, then it shuts down. Then I push the reset button and it will run approx. 5 soconds then shut down. What do I do and will it be...

If the heater runs good & smells good while its running, but shuts down for no apparent reason, then most likely, you have either a bad Safety Control HA3003 (reset) or a bad photocell HA3019.

But, don't rule out simple problems like:
(any of the following can cause a flameout condition, in which case the photocell will shut the unit down. This is where trouble shooting comes into effect).
  1. loss of ground at the Ignition Control (transformer)- not screwed down good
  2. restricted fuel fulter
  3. restricted or worn nozzle
  4. air pump pressure not set to specs

Reddy heater won't stay on

What is the model number? Could be a number of things, depending on which technology is used on your particular 55,000 btu heater.

Reddy heater won't stay on

sounds like a Thermal Cut-off this is a small sensor that detects if the heater has ignited properly, sounds like this sensor has failed and the heater shuts off to prevent from gassing anyone
