Hi, I have a HP DeskJet Ink Advantage 1515, and the printer keep making a grinding noise while printing something, does someone knows why?

Turn the printer on, and replace the cartridges if possible. If the carriage moves, but there is still a grinding noise, there may be a paper feed issue. If the carriage will not move, then it is a carriage stall issue.

I have put up with a banding problem on my Lexmark c510 for over a year, along with a loud grinding noise when printing . The problem still occurs when print a separate page of each C Y M K colour. How...

Lexmark has nozzle check feature, which prints test
page so you can see if nozzles are working. It's under printer
properties/maintenance or similar. But depends which type of ink did you use for refilling. If you used so-called universal ink for all printers, then you're stuck. I tried such
ink on my Z33 and got same result. I ended with new Canon i550.If you did use such low-cost ink, i suggest you totally disassemblecartridge, clean it thoroughly, dry it and get new ink specially designed for Z65. When i got this result, i took out sponge, clean it, clean cart
itself until clean water was coming from nozzles, dried it out and refill. let me know the result.

Making a grinding noise. It sounds like to printer head is hitting the sides of the printer

What you may find is that there is a large buildup of dried ink in an area on the right side of the printer that's jamming the head and making it sound like that. Open the top cover and look underneath where the pushbuttons are on the right side to find it.
It is the result of years of cartridge self-cleaning into a little sponge there - I used a pair of needle nosed pliers to get rid of it and my printer's back in action.

I installed a new black ink cartridge and it doesn't work.

  1. Open the cover of the Kodak 5300 printer. Take out the cartridges that are to be reset.
Find the filing hole. It will most probably be somewhere on the bottom or the rear of the ink cartridge.Moisten the syringe's needle and push it into the sponge all the way through the filling hole. Make sure you do not apply too much force, as the sponge will likely rip apart and consequently will cause clogs.
Keep the ink bottle on a stable surface. The syringe's needle is usually very delicate and thin. Slowly, squeeze the ink bottle to make the ink flow into its sponge. Again, do not apply a lot of pressure or the sponge might expand, which will cause the ink to come out disproportionately during printing.
  2. Squeeze the ink into its sponge until it starts to look moistened. Make sure you do not fill up too much.
  3. Use tissues for wiping the filling hole. Install the refilled ink cartridge on your Kodak2_bing.gif 5300 printer. You will hear a click when the cartridge installs at the right place.

Black ink leakage

Most likely there is (or was) ink on top of the sponge. When this happens the hydrostatic pressure gets messed up and the cartridge will leak ink until there is no more ink on top of the sponge. Look at the side of the cartridge, there should be a small gap between the sponge and the top of the cartridge. If there isn't you can place paper towels on the egress hole and wick out the excess ink to fix the problem.

HP Deskjet 1320 printer makes grinding noise and stalls before it prints

I think the noise is normal for hp deskjet. When starting up, the printer read the head existence, and do cleaning. is it the first replacement cartridge? Disable ink status monitor.

C86 Epson Stylus

hmmm...well..there's nothing in the service bulletins that suggest that. There IS a note related to replacing those sponges, since they do wear and dry out, even when worked properly. I usually decline to do a sponge bath(he..he) even if it sounds like a good idea. That ink gets into everything, and is tough to remove.

Printer makes noise while cleaning heads

Grinding noise is most likely caused by the carriage lock getting stuck and holding the print head at the home position. The noise is caused by the toothed belt that pulls the head back and forth, skipping over the splines on the motor drive wheel. If you have been able to print since the problem occurred, chances are that it has freed itself up and will be fine. Regarding the loss of cyan & magenta output, follow the solution given in my previous posts to complete a manual under-head cleaning cycle. This should get you going.
