Yh250a how do i fit new hand brake cable to yh250a and is there anyway i can tune or custom this engine ?

have you pumped the foot brake a few times? rebleed the calipers , the hand brake cables may just need adjusting

wait a bit ....is it rear disc or rear drums on that ute

will assume its under dash hand brake pull lever tyoe

the disc setup may have single cables for each rear
rear disk brake cable is approx $ 150

if your XH it is close to the XE and XF set up drums
a complete one line loop cable outer and inner
with plastic grommets along the back chassis rail ( they break )
so the one inner cable works both rear handbrake shoes

drums are adjusted with the old school way with the handbrake adjuster tool

then the handbrake handle when pulled out to hold needs14 plus clicks
comes out a long way for some weird reason

if cable adjustment is done wrong onrear drums the handbrake cable will come loose in the drum as you drive along

Hello David, there will be an adjuster but (depending on the age of the vehicle) it might be self adjusting or manual.

it looks like a common flaw in design
it can fail an mot if handbrake wont hold
with both wheel of the ground and hand brake fully applied do the wheels spin

Adjusting the Hand Brake is quite easy

At the bottom of the Hand Brake Lever , you will see the cable with like nuts (teeth) on the cable locked by the lock on the lever it self, you will need to open the lock , take the cable off the lock , drop the handle down and put the cable back on the lever and lock it.

Do you mean back brake pads or the back brake callipers?
To change pads you need to use a rear brake pads changing tool to screw in the calliper piston or if you are experienced enough you could screw in the calliper with a two mm thick piece of metal sheeting that fits into the grove of the piston.
If you need to replace the whole calliper remove the hand brake cable first and clamp the flexible brake hose remove brake hose, remove the callier with cylinder and then remove the calliper holder. fit new holder pads and locks and the calliper with the piston and the brake hose and the hand brake cable. Bleed the brakes. Mike

I have a 2002 tahoe and the e-brake cable snapped as well. I am NOT good at fixing cars and I did it so I am sure you can too. First thing you will need to do is release the brake. Just look underneath (way to the left against the e-brake pedal and you will likely see the lever that releases the pedal) carefully press up on this lever and release the brake. Next, make sure the old metal cable is completely removed. There is a small hole on the lever you just pushed that the end of the cable goes in as well as a hole on the hand release. Cut the cable off if necessary to remove.
Now, purchase the new assembly (comes with the hand release and new cable and about $40 at a Chevy Dealer - probably a lot less at one of the online retailers like US auto parts). Unscrew the old hand lever and remove. Also remove the cable housing underneath (needle nose pliers to pinch the fitting and remove. Next, take the new assembly and run the housing and the end of the cable through the fitting next to the pedal as it was before. Now you need to carefully (this is the trickiest part) fish the cable through the hole. Use a long screwdriver or hammer to push the lever up closer to the cable to be able to fish the cable end through the hole. (Be patient as this part is a little tricky - might need the needle nose pliers to slightly bend the cable and it will eventually go through the hole.. Now just reconnect the screw holding the hand release and you are done.
