Screen powers up then goes blank after 2 seconds

Hello support,

I have an lcd tv Akai model, the screen shows the Akai logo when I power up for about 2 seconds then goes blank but the power indicator light still stays green. I ordered and replaced the inverter but still has the same problem. There is sound from the tv. Please can you help me with this problem? Thanks

Sly

It Does not matter what cable I insert it still does the same thing even if I do not put in any cable. The screen just shows the Akai logo and then goes completely black as if it is off but the green power light remains on and there is sound

I have it hooked up to a DVD still no pictures. I have looked at the power board for any loose solder, every thing seems ok there. I have even tried a repair person who does not seem to know what the problem is. I just wish there is someone here who had the same problem and got it fixed.
I'll keep trying and post if I get it fixed.
    Thanks for your help.

Hi, was there a resolution to this? I am experiencing the same problem with LCT3285TA purchased at Radio Shack in Media, PA. Radio Shack has refused to service the unit and has put me over to Akai for the manufacturer's warranty. I'd like to know what to expect and if this problem with the Logo coming up and the unit shutting off/restarting can be easily fixed, thanks.

Which TV input are you using?  On the LCT3285TA, the S-video and composite (yellow RCA jack) use the same audio input connections.  If you have a bad S-video cable, you might get this effect.

Need more information on how you are feeding signals to your TV.

    Let's recap:

The LCD display does display the AKAI logo when you turn on the TV for a few seconds. That's good. It means the LCD isn't dead.

Next, the sound is on, but the picture is blank. OK, so as you have it hooked up, the audio signal is getting into the TV, but either (a) the video signal is not getting in, or (b) the signal is getting in, but the TV isn't displaying it for one reason or another.

If there is a real problem with the electronics, it would likely need a qualified repair person. If it is just a problem with the way you have things set up, then changing the hookup may solve the problem. So, it's worth trying the simple things first, just to isolate the problem.

If you have a VCR and a pre-recorded tape, load the tape and use a coaxial TV hookup cable to connect the VCR's "out to TV" connection to the analog TV jack on the back. On my LCT3285TA, that is the jack on the far right of the TV as seen from the back of the TV. Push the "display" button on the AKAI TV remote and see what appears on the screen. If it is "AV", "S-video", "YPbPr1", "YPbPr2", "HDMI", or "VGA", you will need to press the TV remote's "Source" button one or more times until a number is displayed in the upper left of the TV screen. Once you see that number, stop pressing "Source". The VCR's RF output is probably set to channel 3, but may be set to 4 or even 2. Press "3" on the TV remote and push the VCR's play button.
Does the tape's video appear on the TV? How about it's sound?
If you see and hear nothing or see a snowy picture, try pushing "4" on the TV remote. Let us know what happens.

If you don't have a VCR, you may be able to try the same test with a DVD player. If your DVD player doesn't have the screw-on jack for a coaxial cable, we'll have to alter the test a bit.

How do I fix akai TV model #lct2785ta? TV screen remains blank and black, after I power it on.

If your LCD TV or monitor has stopped working, or is displaying one of the following symptoms, then it's a candidate for some new capacitors
- Flickering screen
- Screen image disappears after several seconds
- Dim screen
- Slow start
- Power LED on, but no picture
- Unusual colors and/or lines
The primary cause of LCD TV and monitor failure is caused by faulty capacitors. You can examine the capacitors in your LCD TV or monitor and actually see if they are bad.
If they appear bulged on top, then they need to be replaced.
New capacitors will solve a host of problems in LCD monitors and TV's and will extend the life of your monitor or TV by several years.
Check the cables, connectors and connections.
Take it to a repair shop.

Screen goes black after 2 seconds

This is a mean problem, and I feel for anyone who has it.

This can be caused by a bad power board, a bad main board or a lcd LCD panel.

An authorized repair shop would be able to substitute the main and power boards to find the source of the fault, but you don't have that luxury.

Unless you want to risk paying for an expensive part you don't need, I would suggest you take it to an Akai repair shop.
