Problem my tv looks like 3d piture and it look like is the piture goes down

    We purchased our Sony Projection TV KP-61HS30 about 6 years ago - and we looveee it (STILL). Just the other night - for the first time, I am getting some massive issues with the screen. The Reds, Greens, and Blues are all separating and the image is bowing in the top & bottom. What can I do to fix this?

    Or it was not done right, you can google for sites like tr repair kits to get a parts kit with instructions

Hi three months ago my kp-61hs30 tv looks like 3d picture and technician man replaced the two convergence Ic's but last night my tv looks like 3d picture and it look like is the picture goes down
i don't know why happened again

The power on no piture

If the power light comes on (green) for a few seconds and goes off:

MOST OF THESE SETS HAVE A SELF DIAGNOSTIC:

UNPLUG TV AND THEN PLUG BACK IN---TURN ON---GREEN POWER LIGHT COMES ON FOR A MOMENT AND GOES OFF.

PRESS AND HOLD "device"(input) and "menu" buttons on front of tv for at least 5 seconds and then release both together.


Watch for power light to blink in a sequence:

1 blink-then 2 blinks-------no error

2 blink-then 1 blink-------X-ray protection

2 blink-then 2 blink-------SHORT PROTECTION*******

2 blink-then 3 blink---------deflection circuit problem

2 blink-then 4 blink---------vertical circuit problem


******2, then 2 is most common---usually means one of the fuses that protect the Convergence IC or IC's is blown---set will detect no voltage to convergence IC and shut down.


SET WILL REPEAT BLINK ERROR CODE UP TO 5 TIMES AND THEN TO GET IT TO REPEAT MORE YOU HAVE TO UNPLUG SET AND TRY TO TURN ON AGAIN.


IF IT IS 2 AND THEN 2---USUALLY
CONVERGENCE CIRCUIT PROBLEM

let me know what you find--hope that you find 2 blinks, a pause and two blinks--this is the most common and easiest to fix.

that means you are having a problem in the high voltage section of your tv and it goes into 33kv..check how your power supply is regulating and your horizontal circuit..your set goes into saftey shut down. if you are not a tech..then i advise you to have a tech look on your set.good luck.

3d colors not lining up poblem dicates "convergence issues.. bowing piture may indicate complete faliure of convergence alignment cuircits... depending on model the most likely cause will be 2 micochips (ic's called stk<s)

Piture looks like 3D

Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung, JVC, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Akai, Pioneer, Hitachi, Zenith, and others. You can get a convergenece repair kit from the link below.

Common Symptoms include....
  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • TV shuts off after powering on - TV may also make a chirping noise.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the settings menu then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move RED and BLUE in all directions - up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions or cant move them far enough your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

Note: If you TV has as flash focus or magic focus button only try pressing the button. If it fails to fix the convergence your need to fix it. See below for a solution

You will need to replace the convergence chips and possibly some convergence resistors and pico fuses.
This is a a fairly easy DIY job if you know what you are doing. If you have never done this before we would advise calling a shop or if you want to do it yourself get a complete kit with instructions and support from www.TvRepairKits.com

Picture problem

3d pitures are a indication of convergence problem. is the picutre bowed in at top and bottom. DO you have the convergence option under the setup menu.

Goodmans GTV30W2LCD Sound with no picture, screen flashes up at switch on then again goes blank.

mine has just done the same thing, i had someone look at it and he said the picture had gone. its not worth repairing it as it cost more than the tv is worth. your better off buying a new tv.sorry.

Hi Ross, This repair is quite easy, But before I tell you how to fix the problem I need to know have you gone in to the user menu & tried adjusting the convergence This will save time & expense for you ?
