Take your base plate off, 5 screws usually hold it on, and check to see if your brush roller end blocks need to be rotated. If you see several little hash marks on the side facing up, pull the bearing blocks out and rotate them until just one hash mark is showing and then put the brush back in. I would also suggest that you change your belt at this time as well. If you already have just one hash mark showing you probably need to replace your brush roller. Hope this helps.

Why am I unable to push vacuum forward on new area rug. But will work pulling backward. Works fine on old rugs and floor

It might be that the new rug has a backing that is not as stiff a the other rugs which can cause a rug to bunch up making it hard to push the vacuum forward.

Cannot push vacuum forward on new area rug. But will work pulling backward. Still works on old area rugs and floors.

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulty using your DC25 on this particular new area rug. As you've confirmed the vacuum works as normal on other rugs and hard floors, it doesn't sound like there's a fault with the vacuum itself.

As lightweight area rugs are not fixed to the floor, it's possible for the rug to lift and seal against the soleplate of the cleaner head, due to your DC25's powerful suction. As this will reduce the amount of airflow entering the cleaner head, you may need to use more push force than usual when vacuuming this type of flooring.

We would encourage you to check directly with the rug manufacturer, as they'll be best placed to provide information on correctly caring for this particular floor type.

If you'd like to discuss the issue you're experiencing with our experts, you're welcome to call us directly on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

I can't push my Dyson Dc33 on my new carpet..it works backwards ok but not pushing forward?

Hi Fran, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC33 is engineered to work effectively on both hard and carpeted flooring. The cleaner head is engineered to adjust automatically for different floor types and carpet piles. You can also turn off the brush bar for hard floors and delicate rugs, using the brush control on the cleaner head.

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulty pushing your machine forward on this particular type of new carpeting. If your DC33 worked effectively before the new carpeting was fitted, it doesn't sound like there's an issue with the vacuum itself. However, we'd appreciate the opportunity to take some further details about the issue, and may be able to suggest a resolution. You may also want to consider contacting the carpeting manufacturer directly, as they should be able to recommend the best way of caring for this specific carpeting.

When you have your DC33 easily to hand, please give the Dyson Customer Helpline a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

We'll look forward to speaking with you.

While using the power mate rug part I caught a small rug and the vacuum would no longer pick-up .

Check to see if there is a reset button on the head. This protects the machine for times like you described. When something jms up the reset button will turn ofdf th machine. Simply push the reset. Hope this helps, Chris

Noisy on rugs!

Are the rugs long haired or short haired? Most likely the suction is just causing the noise when it picks up the rug and the buzz saw could be the beater bar hitting the rug then. I actually own a DC14 and it does the same thing and the rugs like to be dragged along. Nothing really to fix this, just the way it is. You could try it with the beater bar raised and see how well it works then but this sounds normal.

Have a good day

Loud noise

This is the clutch as it jams up in the brush. Usually happens with rugs that are not secured to the floor.

Hoover Windtunnel carpet level adjustment

The suction is so great that it sucks up your carpet, then nothing works. I get my children to stand on the corners/edges of the rug so that it stays perfectly flat on the floor while I vacuum. Or, you can turn off the brush roller (set it to "hard floor" setting). Or, tip the vacuum cleaner's front up slightly while vacuuming, to reduce suction.
