look for a small hole on the outside case near the sd card reader. might need a paperclip or pin to poke the microswitch inside the hole. simply clicking the switch doesn't work, try holding it for 5 seconds then try to power up. Common problem with GPS devices, (my mio included) is after being plugged in for a long time, the battery life becomes nil and it relies upon the charger. Check tom to xl for further problem solving. google search TOM TOM XL won't power up.

You could have a bad battery!

go to manufacture's website and download the update for it.

Change preferences to use a computer generated voice.

You need a traffic receiver, avalable from the dealer. it plugs into the charging port

It's a standard SD card that you can get from electronics or camera shops. 1Gb should be OK.

If you haven't got Tom Tom HOME 2.5 then go to this web page and download and install it.

Run Tom Tom HOME with the Tom Tom connected (say YES to connection) and follow instructions on the PC screen to get new maps.

Check the sound settings in preferrences to see if you have accidently shut the sounds off.
