My Pioneer DVR-110DBK says it isnt comrpatible with my computer. I tried it on my desktop (Windows 7) Does it suppose to work with windows 7 and 8 ? The only thing I can get to work is the burner. I would...

If it worked in an older OS like Win XP but doesn't work in Win 7 & 8 then it may need a firmware update in order to work in those OS's. Check the manufacturers website to see if firmware update is available.

My pioneer cd/dvd burner model DVR-110D will not write to cds it will readand write to dvds, it will also read cds but not write to cds. how can I get this fixed, my OS is WINXP PRO?

Welcome to Fixya.

Seems like you're having a software issue that prevents your system to read/run a disc when inside the operating system. I have included the official fix from Microsoft:

DVD Drive Troubleshooting

All you have to do is to click on "Run Now" and follow the on screen prompts - just remember to eject any CD that you may have inside the drive.

Please note that if this does not work, then the drive needs to be replaced. You may contact Pioneer for replacement options in case that happens.

Hope this helps and Thanks for using FixYa.

My DVR-110D does not play DVD's it says MPEG-2 encoding/decoding is not available

email me at [email protected] and be more specific as to wether or not thats a popup message or the media player is telling you that. if its the media player, then you might try going to www.freedownloads.com and type in the search area (codec pack) then download that and install it. then at the same site load a media player thats called (media player classic) these 2 installs combined should play any type of dvd one the market without fail. if you need any further assistance please feel free to mail me. bill fox

DVD R burnt by pioneer drive couldn't be read by itself.

If there were compatability issues with the disc it would have been unable to burn to the dvd initially, the problems you mention are a sign that the reading in the dvd is failing and there's never a solution for problems as these, as it means that a replacement is needed, as the dvd writer arent worth repairing. I had the same thing exactly, but after a while it wouldnt even acknowledge that i had a writable dvd in the drive, but was ok with cd's. I think it is down to poor quality lasers, so as to keep the dvd writer prices down.
