Our fridge is Model MFF2558VEW3 Maytag, it is 3 yrs old and we have always had issues with moisture building up on the bottom of the freezer and leaking water onto the floor. We have to remove the ice every 3 days and can find nothing in the manual relating to this issue.
It sounds like the defroster is not working. Look up online for solutions that are posted.
I would agree with this post. Its either the defrost timer, defrost heater or defrost thermostat. Its all interconnected and you have to remove the freezer drawer to be able to remove the back panel in the freezer section.
The problem is your drain line is iced over and the water from your defrost cycle is over flowing. You can correct this by adding a drain extension to your heater. The cheap way to do this is wrap a piece of 14 gauge single strand wire around your heater which is the black rod looking piece attached to your coil and fish is down the drain. You can use boiling water and a measuring cup to thaw the ice that has built up in the line. repeat this process initial the water goes down the hole into the pan under the fridge.
I believe this is the one where it's necessary to remove the basket that holds frozen food, then remove screws from a white panel at the back of the freezer compartment whre you'll find a black drain hose iced up and maybe even disfigured thereby holding water inside it so it freezes shut and lets defrost water run into the bottom of the freezer forming an ice pond until the water begins running out onto your floor. apparently its the way the maytag defrosts. I have had this issue since I bought it. FIrst of all, you dont have to go through the whole defrosting process with water on the floor and removing your freezer contents. Simply take a butter knife and from the front corner, slide it under the edge of the ice and the whole sheet can be slid out intact right under the freezer door. I think it had alot to dowith having the humidity switch on, because when it isn't like in the summer when the AC is running, the amount of ice is not that bad.

I have had the same problem with different problems each time. The first time the stop lever came loose on one end. This resulted in the ice maker remaining in the off position but looked like iWhen I removed that it worked again. Hope this helps

I’ve had my Maytag fridge for 8 years. But only this week did the same problem show up as cathy824 and lew223. When I poked a drink stirrer into the top of the drain hole, it was hard as a rock. Not knowing why condensate from the coils was not draining into the hole and tubing that would empty the water into the pan evaporator on the bottom of the fridge, I took everything apart in the back and messed around with the black rubber elbow at the other end of the drain plug. I shouldn’t have bothered, because what I finally did was to pour boiling, boiling hot water over the drain hole to melt the ice and gunk that was frozen solid in the drain tubing. While I was doing that, I poked the stirrer into the hole, washing the gunk down the drain and into the very dry evaporator pan. Keep pouring hot water into the drain hole until you’re satisfied that water can flow freely into the pan.
That solved the problem of condensate water freezing on the bottom of the freezer and running onto the kitchen floor. Thanks to lew223 for the fix! The fridge should be good for another 8 years now.

You have a seal problem around the door or the heat strip inside the frame to prevent this is not working. Or both. So you are sure the model is the MFD2560HES. Let me know if you want me to help you solve this, Sea Breeze
