HTC Touch lost the WiFi ability

My HTC Touch suddenly lost the WiFi abiliity and the WLAN Button doesn't appear in the Comm Manager anymore. I have restarted the HTC many times taking the battery off without results. In addition, I also use the vxIPConfig program to see my network adapter parameters like the adapter name, IP address, MAC address, etc. but now it can't show any parameter and the folowing message box appears when I try to open the vxIPConfig: 'No adapter information exist for the local computer 232'. The wireless card or adapter is from SyChip (Cheeta and Jaguar WLAN GSPI cards), and I can see them as installed in the network card settings. I think that some system files could be corrupted. I have checked the machine with an antivirus but it does not find anything wrong. I'd appreciate any help. Victor (Chile).

I think phone needs software reset. Below is the link about performing soft reset and hard reset on HTC touch. Try soft reset first. if it doesn't work, try hard reset. If after hard reset still no success, try to flash firmware. But I think hard reset can resolve the problem. Note, that hard reset will delete the storage entirely, so backup any data befor performing those manipulations.

SOURCE: Sending/Receiving pictures and video messages on HTC touch through Alltel

For anyone here who believes it is not possible for an ALLTEL smart phone, just go to your ALLTEL store. It is possible, it is easy, and it is OK if you cannot figure it out. Everybody is good at something different, right?

I have had four models of smart phones with ALLTEL, and had no confusion on the pic issue with any of them. Send fine/receive fine---every single one. It may be easy for me because I am an engineer, so don't waste your time 'figuring it out', just go to the store, and let THEM do their job!

Don't let technology kick your ***---let someone help you.

You can also get tips & tricks from www.htcwiki.com
It has the latest and great updates, software, even known issues if you ever come across this. HTC does recommend that you do a master/hard reset once a quarter to keep it moving smoothly. Also, ensure you don't have a lot of open running programs. Perhaps once a day, clean the cashe and history. Do a soft reset (aka battery pull) once or twice a week. All depends on how hard you play with this lovely PDA device!

How to connect htc p3450 to wifi..

Start out by bringing up the cube, but this time press the Comm Manager button and then press the WLAN button. This will turn on the Wi-Fi “radio” inside your phone. If you are within range of a Wi-Fi signal (your home network perhaps) a wizard will pop up on the bottom of the screen indicating wireless networks that are within range and it asks you to “Select a network to connect to:”. These are “access points”, or commonly referred to as “hotspots”. Chances are there will be more than one so simply tap on the name of the one that is available to you and that you know the password for if necessary.
The next window will ask you to select if the access point/hotspot you selected connects to the internet or to “Work”. “Work” indicates a private network, so chances are you will want to tap on “the internet” as your choice. If the network you chose is “security enabled” you will be asked to enter the “key” (password), then press “connect”. If it is not a secure network, do not enter anything and just press “connect”. Look at the top of your screen and notice the Wi-Fi status indicator. When the arrows stop being animated and the little tower icon has a solid circle around the top part you are connected to the network and ready to surf. The next time you are within range of this network you will be able to connect automatically within seconds of turning on Wi-Fi in the Comm Manager. You only have to go through this setup procedure each time you connect to a new network for the first time.
Once you have connected to a Wi-Fi network, the settings will be saved and you can see/edit/delete these settings by tapping on the soft menu labeled “Settings” from the Comm Manager page. Choose “Wireless LAN” then press the left soft button labeled “Menu” and choose “Wi-Fi”. There you will see the network names that are available to you now, or that you connected to in the past. If you will not be using a particular network again you can delete it by either pressing directly on the name of it long enough to bring up a menu that has “remove settings” as a choice or by highlighting the one you want to delete and then pressing the right soft button labeled “Menu” and choosing “Remove Settings”.

Once you are connected, press Comm Manager’s left soft button labeled “Exit” or tap the “X” in the upper right-hand corner then bring up the cube and press the “Internet Explorer” button. Then you can go to whatever web page you want.

HTC Viva and WIFI Problem Connection

Hello, wifi is a sort of WLAN conection. you need a wireless router to be able to use wifi. there are two ways to connect to the internet on the touch viva. 1st way is by the sim card and that costs you a lot of money!!! the other way is by a wlan router, you can access to the internet as long as you want is you have a flatrate. My good tipp: switch off the gprs connection, it will only cost you a lot of money. you will still be able to make phone calls. Ilost about 60$ (i mean it!) by trying to access to the internet by gprs.

BLUEtooth is not working

Is your device seen by other devices?
If not then:
- load Comm Manager (set your finger to very bottom of the screen, then slide it to the top, find Comm Manager (if there is no Comm Manager on this page then put your finger to the right side of the screen, slide to the left switching the pages))
- press "settings" (right button)
- choose "bluetooth"
- find the second tab. I should be named "mode"
- toggle the second square named something like "make this device visible for others" so that there is a "v"-sign in the square
- then find the tab "security"
- make sure that the square is not checked (no "v"-sign in it)
- try transfering data again

by default these parameters differ from the needed ones

WLAN Problem

Hi, A couple of things you can try: 1. In your Device Manager, expand your Networking Adapter, right click on your WiFi and click on enable; 2. Some notebook/laptop models have a hard swtich on either the side or the front to activate the radio of the WiFi; 3. Verify that your WiFi drivers are installed and that it has no red or yellow markings (Device Manager); 4. If you are using plug-in (USB or PCM card), verify that they are plugged in snugly.
