Windows Defender was turned off somehow, and was reported to me from Microsoft that was off and needed to be turned on, which I have unsuccessfully attempted, manually, restarting PC, restore points,

Golly, I'm so backward, this is my 4th attempt to get this posted, hopefully, my last. But, one of my problems is, when I try starting Windows Defender, manually, it tells me this program is turned off, and if I am running something else, use action center, to check its status. If I want to turn WD on, click here to turn on. I do, and after a while, finally, windows features, comes back with, this program has stopped, as if I didn't know that, but anyway, that I can start service manually, or I can restart PC, which will start the service. error code: 0x800106ba Well I tried, it didn't start up. I tried 3 diferent restore points, every time it came back with WD still, turned off. I used task mgr. and its thing was that, WD, can't be started because service depends on following systems components, I think referring to RPC, remote procedure call, DCOM, SERVICE PROCESS LAUNCHER, and RPCC, endpoint mapper. rediculous, and I am too! It's 2:54 am. help! If you have any suggestions, try to make it simple, if possible, you know what I mean? 3:20 now thanks

My storage is so full I am scared to get the fix it app

Hi, I Suggest not do delete Windows Defender and its now default antivirus/firewall provided by Microsoft. If you still want to delete it please do follow the below process to un-install manually.

1. Open a command Prompt and type the following to stop and then delete the Defender service:

  • type in : sc stop windefend and press enter
  • type in : sc delete windefend
2. Next you need to grant full permissions to and delete the following registry key so the Defender Control Panel entry can be deleted: open RUN command and type in regedit
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\ControlPanel\NameSpace\{D8559EB9-20C0-410E-BEDA-7ED416AECC2A}
3. Also grant full permission and delete the Defender program registry key:
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Defender
4. Now take ownership of and delete the following folders:
  • C:\Program Files\Windows Defender
  • C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows Defender
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Defender (for 64-bit users only) and reboot the computer.

How do i fix error ox800106ba

Hi Anon,
The 0x800106ba error may occur after Windows Defender is updated due to the computer's inability to update the Windows Defender firewall. It may not have applicable permissions needed for the update, or it may not have the files necessary for updating itself.

The Fix

Set Windows Defender to Automatic - You can set the Windows Defender service to Automatic, Disabled or Manual. Setting it to automatic might solve the problem. Follow these steps:
  1. Click Start > type services in the Search box > click Services in the Programs list.
  2. If you are asked for a Password before you continue, then enter the password > click Continue.
  3. Double-click Windows Defender, and click Automatic in the start-up box > click OK.
Uninstall and reinstall Windows Defender - If the first procedure did not help resolve the problem, try un-installing and then reinstalling Windows Defender. Due to the fact that Windows Defender is a Windows component, we will use AppWiz to un-install it from the computer. Follow these steps:
  1. Press Windows Key + R > type appwiz.cpl > Press Enter
  2. Click Windows Defender > click Remove
  3. Follow the prompts to uninstall Windows Defender

Let me know how you go!

Sir pl tl me that whch antivirus is suitable for window 8

Windows 8 includes an automatically loaded updated version of Windows Defender
which is a full antivirus based on Microsoft Security Essentials.
(Windows Defender
for XP, Vista, and Windows 7 was only antispyware.)
So if you upgrade the protection
is automatic and is on by default at installation.

I have a problem trying to turn on windows defender on my pc.. i try a few diferent ways but no luck.. can someone help with a solution that works for sure yhank s

At the startup of Windows XP, you may see an error that says "Unable to Start Windows Defender service". This issue occurs, if some of the registry entries are corrupted. Restarting the service from the service console may also prompt the same error.

To resolve this issue, you may need to uninstall and reinstall the Windows Defender. Follow the below mentioned steps:

1. Click Start, Control Panel.
2. Click Add or Remove Programs.
3. Click Windows Defender, and click Remove.

This will uninstall Windows Defender. You can download and reinstall the updated version from the following link:

Hope this helps!!! Let me know if you need more help
