If you had the door open for that long you will need to unplug and allow the ice buildup that happens when door is left open to thaw. I have a PLV-Z1 about 5 yrs old, just replaced the bulb and it has continued to operate for about 10 minutes then turn off. You cannot turn it on again for hours. I have reset the buld life. What...

Hi,
It's possible that this problem is caused by overheating. There is a "Warning Temp" LED which should light if this is the case.

The following steps may help.
1) Ensure that there is ample ventilation around the projector, ie air vents are not blocked by walls, or have other heat sources nearby.
2) Ensure that the room temprature an humidity are not excessive.
3) Clean the air filters. Turn off the projector and disconnect the power. Turn over the projector and remove the air filter by pulling the latch upwards. It is located behind the leg nearest the lens side)/ Clean the air filter with a brush or wash out particles (it must be dry before reinserting). Replace the air filter, making sure it is fully reinserted. Clean the air intake vents (there are two of them near the air filter on the underside, nearer the back of the unit).

If the problem is caused by overheating these steps should help.

It seems as though my Sony HD tv's picture has gotten darker over the few weeks. Does the bulb need to be repalced?

IF it is over two years since it was replaced, this is the way that they fail---get darker just before they fail completely.

Average life span is 2,000 hours which works out to for most people about 2 years.

Google the model number with the word Lamp after it and you will find dozens of places to purchase a replacement---the lamp is meant to be a customer replaceable part.

If this told you something you did not know, rate this solution as very helpful as I do this here for free.

I have 2 SVGA60 Projectors that are saying Temperature!!! One does it then the other about 10 minutes later

several reasons, it could be you havent had its 1000Hrs service and is overheating or filter needs cleaning or lamp is past its change time and is generating too much heat or sensor can sometimes come away and drop into light path causing false sensing of temp.

Sharp pgm20x switches off immeately after switching on

It turns out that i fixed this issue, I opened up my projector and took a look at the board to make sure that there is nothing wrong. It turns out that the projector needed a good cleaning. Just use caned air to clean out the projector make sure that all the vents are clear and not blocked. (note: do not spray the caned air while the bulb is hot, if you do this the bulb can cause the pressurized air to temporary flame up, Please make sure the projector has had at least 30 minutes to cool off) While the board is off press the power button and the projector should power up. Replace the covering, and this projector will work.

Acer aspire 3000 gets very hot

You need to try to clean the CPU fan. Try to blow air towards the air vent of your laptop and then through the inlet alternatively.

Hope this Helps.

Displayed massege to check air flow

With most projectors there is a foam air filter behind a grill that is the opening to the cooling channels. A fan ensures air flow to cool the lamp, etc. This filter prevents dust from gumming up the works (and depending on design) may prevent dust getting into the optics. As the filter gets dirty it gradually cuts off the air and at some point a protective circuit kicks in and turns off the lamp.
If the projector is on you will feel a stream of hot air coming out of the exit vent. Projectors vary in terms of amount of air flow, so its difficult to define what is normal for a specific model. However, you can simply hold a hand in front of the vent and see if there is air flow (It will be hot air so, careful). If there is a "good" stream of air things are fine, but if only a very light flow is felt the filter may be dirty.
If the filter has not been cleaned or replaced recently make sure the projector is turned off and cooled down then take off the inlet cover and remove the filter. Clean or replace per the instructions for the projector (and periodically as defined .. but taking into account the operating conditions). Once cleaned turn on the projector and feel the "normal" air current for future reference.
Heat is one of the major causes of projector failure, so make sure cooling vents (inlet and outlet) are not obstructed and filters are kept clean
