Whirlpool tub, jets come on and won't shut off. No water in tub.

The only way I can get the jets to shut off is to turn the power off to the outlets. Last night it came on and hadn't been used in 2 days. Is it posessed?

What make and model is the tub. does it have a single button for off and on or a control pad?

  • Connie Meek Sutton Oct 08, 2015

Yes, you turn it to come on and turn it the other way to turn it off. It is about 11 years old

Is it a jetted tub, or a air bath tub with holes or jets in the floor? If it has holes or jets in the floor, the control box is bad and needs replaced. If it is a jetted tub, there may be a water level sensor, if so the sensor may be bad causing the tub to turn on.

Why do jets turn on, then shut off?

the motor protection device is sensing to many amps. could be a flow restriction or the pump motor bearings are going bad.

Aqualux whirlpool tub how do I clean jets?

Try and blow the lines out with air, sounds like something is stuffing the water jet. Drain system and turn off power first.

Jets don't work in the jetted tub.

First the obvious, most are electrically connected to a ground fault device, ether an outlet or a breaker. BEFORE ADDING WATER, check these out to make sure they are not tripped. Most all tubs have a minimum water level which must be reached before the jets will operate. This is usually a piece of trim located above the depth of the jets. Make sure the tub is filled to cover this part. If you cant identify the water level device fill the tub so that all the jets are covered by an inch or 2. Some tubs have push button switches or touch pads to control the motor, some have touch sensitive trim. There may be some sort of medallion from the maker on the tub, simply touching it will start the tub. Once you get it going most tubs have a built in timer that turns off the pump in 15 - 20 minutes. For more tub time just hit the switch again but keep in mind that extended exposure in a hot tub can mess with your blood pressure and cause you to loose balance or pass out, hence the 20 minute timer.

Water coming out of adjustable air vent behind wall of tub

one or more of the jets are turned off. i would suspect someone is plugging the jets off which causes water to go backwards in the system and the water goes out the air controls. solution: check the jets to make sure the jet faces are turned on and/or tell someone to quit plugging off the jets when they are in the tub.

NOTHING TURNS ON, PLUG IS OK SAID ELECTRICAN

If you have plugged the tub into another outlet and the jets work fine, it is not a control module problem. The tub should be plugged into a gfci outlet. If it is, there may be a reset switch on the plug it is plugged into, or there may be a switch somewhere else in your bathroom that has the reset switch on it. You can buy a tester for about $3 or $4 that plugs into your outlet to test if it has power. Hope this helps.

My Kohler whirlpool started on its own with no water in it. We turned it off with the switch and it hasn't happened again. Is there a danger of it starting a fire if we are away from home and it does it...

Most Kohler tubs have a water sensor or water level sensor. Is this an air bath tub (holes in the floor)? or a jetted tub? If it is an air bath, the tub will purge after using it 15 to 30 minutes ater it is drained. If it is programable it will come on every 24 hours if it has been programmed. If it is a jetted tub, there may have been water on the sensor and caused it to start up. If it is a single on/off button the switch could have gotten water and caused it to start up, or there is a problem with the control box. It usually will not start a fire if it comes on, most of the newer pumps have run dry seals. If you leave the house for vacation or weekends, I would advise unplugging the tub or turning off the breaker.

Kohler whirlpool will not shut off and sounds like about to blow

Sounds as if you may need a new switch to turn the tub on/off. You can find one on our site www.uspartscenter.com
