I have been trying to print from the photo tray of my HP Photosmart D7360, and nothing has worked. I selected "photo tray" and "4x6" in the printer preferences, but it still tries to print from the main tray. Regardless of whether I print from iPhoto or Photoshop, I have to create a custom 4x6 setting b/c I am only given the options of an 8.5 x 11 paper setting or a bunch of letters. Also, when I try to print photos from the main tray, the printer spits out some gibberish computer code and then shoots out all the paper until I hit cancel. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. (I'm about to throw this piece of junk out the window!)
You have to push in the photo tray~. Push until you hear it click...then it will print from the print tray and in turn, you will be able to print photos unto your glossy photo paper instead of the letter size paper.
Try avoiding the preferences selection on the printer's built-in screen. Instead, when you File/Print choose Properties/Printing Shortcuts/Photo Printing Borderless. The tray choice will then allow Photo Tray rather than Main Tray. You can also then choose paper size, etc. Then print. Worked for me.
