Robot Coupe clicks, runs 5 seconds, stops for 30 seconds, clicks, runs 5 seconds...

Our ancient robot coupe is acting up.  While in the middle of mixing some particularly thick stuffing, it stopped working.  Since the "off" button is long gone, we took the lid on and off a few times to no avail.  Then, it turned on, ran for five seconds, and cut out again.  It did this whenever we took the lid off and on, or every thirty seconds (or so) if we left it alone.  Each cycle was preceded by an audible click from the machine. The machine also clicked once after it was unplugged.

It's not the building's electrical system turning it on and off- nothing else attached to those outlets had any issues.  It seems like a function of the machine to keep it from breaking if it gets bogged down, but it won't stop doing it.

I asked the chef if we had an owner's manual- she thought that was the funniest thing she'd ever heard.

Any ideas?

The clicking noise is an internal circuit breaker or motor protector. These things are not made to be bogged down or overfed. The motor is heating up & tripping the overload, after cooloing it resets. Time to buy a new one or get the motor replaced ($600-$800)

I purchased a Robot Coupe R101 and wanted to add the Pulse button. Do I just get a R101 Plus switch and front panel? How hard is the replacement? Thanks

To add the pulse button to your Robot Coupe R101, you will need to purchase the R101 Plus switch and front panel. The replacement is relatively simple and can be done by following these steps:
  1. Turn off and unplug the Robot Coupe R101.
  2. Remove the screws that hold the top cover in place and lift off the cover.
  3. Locate the control panel on the front of the machine and remove the screws that hold it in place.
  4. Carefully remove the control panel and disconnect the wires from the old switch.
  5. Install the new R101 Plus switch onto the control panel and connect the wires.
  6. Replace the control panel onto the front of the machine and secure it in place with the screws.
  7. Replace the top cover and secure it in place with the screws.
Once the new switch and front panel are installed, you will have the pulse button on your Robot Coupe R101.

Robo coupe CL52D would not turn on

There is a reed swich (safety switch) located on the top where the lid comes down. A reed switch works with a magnet. If the magnet is missing or the reed swictch is bad, no power will be allowed to the motor. Send me your e-mail & I will look up the part # in my Robot-Coupe manual. [email protected]

Robot coupe maintanance

That plastic piece is a sling disk or sling blade and made to sling product to the discharge chute. Believe it or not, the motor shafts wear out and could be the cause of premature failure. When you install the new sling blade, check to see how much slop/ play there is by moving this back and forth on the shaft, a small amount is ok (1/16th to 3/32nds). The other thing to look at is forcing or overfeeding the unit. You can contact them at Robot-coupeusa.com
