The lift stops in the up position and won't go into the van. It usually works then when I begin to trust it it fails. I learned about re-setting the breaker on the multipurpose battery pack. After a reset the lift worked then stopped two days later. The battery is charged but the lift switch won't activate the truck and take the chair on the platform into the lift. I am stuck. This happened a week ago and we had to disassemble the chair to get it off the lift. When I push the control button I can hear a click in the carriage but I get no movement. I am told the lift is reliable but not for me. Please help.
If it's stopping in the same spot, it is a limit switch that isn't making contact with the lift sensor.
Here's a link to the wiring diagram that shows where the limit switches are.

If it is tripping the circuit breaker, either your are trying to lift too heavy a weight, or the motor is pulling too much amperage due to previous abuse, or misuse. These are good lifts, and if you bought it new, then get ahold of your dealer and Pride will fix the problem. If you bought it used, they may have been using it to haul concrete...who knows?

Oregoon, thank you for your reply. This lift was a two months old lift when the problems started. My Pride installer/repair (who trained as an engineer) person has worked on it 5 times and replaced switches and motors and it still has repeatedly failed! This is since I asked for help. Pride phone support agents could not help the installer when he had technical questions regarding how to trouble shoot the problem. After significant labor expense Pride apparently will exchange the lift (at additional installation expense) It was apparent to my installer that the lift is not designed for maintenance or repair since the component replacement frequently must be done with the lift uninstalled. Pride's LIMITED warranty does not cover labor costs. Parts have been a smaller portion of the expense to work on this lift. I hope that I am the only frustrated Pride Silverstar Backpacker customer and the lift that I have is the proverbial lemon. I do appreciate the diagram you provided. I always like to understand how the equipment I use is put together.
Again, thank you for your help!
