When i turn the key in the start position the scooter gives out a series of beeps and then five individual beeps but will not move. The battery is fully charged.
Iv got a monami wheel text and it will go forward but not backwards it starts bleeping what can it be
The 5-beeps indicates you are in free-wheeling mode. If the free-wheeling brake disengage lever is in the correct position then you likely have a bad brake switch or bad brake coil assembly.
Verify free wheel lever is in correct position and Replace the bad component if necessary.

So the Battery charger is showing a green light (Fully Charged ?) Can you tell me the MAke and Model of the Scooter ?

Its probably too late to give my opinion, but here goes anyway.
I had a similar problem with my mothers scooter and it turned out to be a faulty connection on the wires leading to the motor. I simply pulled the plastic connection apart, cleaned and lubricated the contacts, refitted the connection and all was well.

It is possible the the battery could be damaged after being stored for that length of time. If it was wasn't completely charged before storage, or if it was exposed to extreme temperatures (even for a short amount of time) you may need to find a replacement battery. http://www.batteryinternational.com/electric-scooter-batteries.html should have the battery you need.

Is it the small portable scooter? The one with the base that comes apart for transporting? Could it be a bad connection where it goes back together?
If it is the portable, try disconnecting the rear drive portion from the base and re-installing it so it clicks into place.
