Hello, I was wondering what board is responsible for the function of switching channels.

Depending largely on the age of the TV, the location of the TV tuner varies. An older analog TV tapping a digital signal does so with an external DTV converter box. For cable and satellite subscribers, there is a a set top box. Most TVs purchased after March 2007 have built-in digital tuners. Look on the front and back of the TV for a marking that indicates a digital tuner. It may say ATSC, DTV, HDTV, Digital Ready, HD Ready, Digital Tuner, Digital Receiver, Digital Tuner Built-in or Integrated Digital Tuner. Any of these is an indication that the TV has a built-in digital tuner. You may have to go to the manufacturer's site to determine such specifications. If you are having a problem with a tv switching channels, remedies may be rather specific and you might try googling for a specific model while including the problem in a simple phrase.

How do I go back to Digital add on search when my boyfriend scanned for the analog channels. Sanyo TV model # dp42545

Usually you have to go to chanel setup and scroll down to DTV setup up or DTV auto tuning and click on the remotes enter button and choose to scan for the Digital channels (DTV) Then tell your boyfriend that they don't broadcast in analogue anymore.

The DTV input in my GV46L stays black. Why?

You don't say what you are trying to input but take note that your model does not have a digital tuner on the DTV input. If you use a digital OTA antenna, the signal must first go through a digital converter or tuner before it goes into the DTV input. The DTV/ANT input is only cable ready. There is no digital tuner in the TV to activate the DTV menu.

After the DTV switch, should I be placing the cable cord into the dtv output to receive all the DTV channels? Protron PLTV 3250 is the set I have and it doesn't seem to get the DTV channels like my other...

Your question is confusing. If you have cable, you don't need a DTV converter box.

If your cable company has switched to digital cable, they will provide you a box, and the cable should go from the wall into the box, then into your TV.

If you don't have cable but instead rely on an antenna, then the wire will go from the antenna into the DTV box, then from the DTV box into the back of the TV. If you're using a regular coaxial cable to go from the DTV box into the television, the TV should be set to channel 3. If you're using the red-yellow-white RCA wires between the DTV box and the television, the TV must be tuned to "Aux," "Line In," "Input Select," or whatever it's labeled on your particular set.

Is this TV digital ready

According to http://www.dtv.gov/consumercorner.html#faq9

How can I be sure that I am buying a digital TV (DTV)?
By law, beginning March 1, 2007, all television reception devices (including TVs, VCRs, DVRs, etc.) imported into the U.S. or shipped in interstate commerce must contain a digital tuner. Retailers may continue to sell analog-only devices from existing inventory, but must prominently display on or near the analog-only device a Consumer Alert label with this advisory:

What is the difference between “Integrated” DTVs and DTV or HDTV “Monitors”?
An Integrated DTV set is a television with a built-in digital tuner (also referred to as “a DTV”). A digital tuner is also sometimes called a DTV decoder or DTV receiver. If you have an Integrated DTV, you will not need any additional equipment, with the exception of a broadcast antenna (either a rooftop antenna or “rabbit ears” connected to the set), to receive over-the-air digital broadcast programming. Integrated DTVs can also receive and display analog broadcast programming, so you can continue watching analog broadcasts.
In contrast, a DTV Monitor is not capable of receiving digital broadcast programming without additional equipment; it is simply a display device without the processing capability for DTV reception. A digital or HD set-top box must be connected between the antenna and the monitor to receive and display over-the-air digital or HD programming.
If you have a digital or HD “Monitor” and would like to purchase a digital or HD set-top box to view over-the-air programming, confirm with your retailer that the set-top box is compatible with your Monitor.

Programming a ATSC DTV tuner on a RCA Universal Remote

Try a code for a "satellite receiver" of the same manufacturer of your DTV tuner. I've heard of a cross-remote complaint with the DirectTV box and the DTVPal box. Note, your DTV tuner may say RCA, but it could be manufactured by a common DTV tuner maker. The system looks very close to a Zinwell. Don't have an RCA model to try the codes out, though.
