Loud noise when running

It may be a broken fan. You will have to disassemble it to find out.

6583 makes loud noise when its turned on

My first guess is there is something caught in the pickup wheel.
1. remove the belt cover to access the pickup wheel
2. remove strings and hair around the ends
3. if you can, remove the belt and see if the noise goes away when you turn it on, this will help to isolate the problem
How old is the unit?
Does it pick up dirt good?
Describe the sound, clicking, rubbing, wheezing, bangin' or clangin'

Just purchased a reconditioned model. Makes a ton of noise and the bottom brush doesn't seem to turn like in my old Oreck. Does that indicate it needs a new belt?

Your Dyson does have a belt but its one that cant be replaced it is called a clutch assy. if your roller brush isnt spinning then it could be that you dont have the purple knob on the left hand side if your facing the vacuum to the carpet setting. if you do have it on the carpet setting and its still not spinning then your clutch need to be replaced.
dyson roller brushes donot rotate as fast as Oreck roller brushes. in fact they are rotate at about half the speed. so keep that in mind.

Beater bar not turning, making loud sound

This machine has a clutch assy. that slips and makes a loud noise
when something gets stuck in the roller brush. If you have nothing stuck in the roller brush chances are the clutch is worn and needs
replacing. Not an easy job and best done by a repair tech. You can find a video on youtube showing how to replace the clutch if you are
inclined to try to do it yourself.

The floorplate broke off my Floormate H3000

I'm assuming that the floor plate your referring to is the wheel assy. This is a common problem on the H3000 series. You will have to remove the two pivot brngs on either side of the handle where it pivots on the base. Once removed, flip the machine over and you will have the necessary clearance to insall the new wheel assy. The difficult part will be attaching the front arm assy using little plastic pin provided. You can use a small pair of needle nose pliers to guide the pin into place and then use a larger pair of needle nose to squeeze GENTLY to push the pin into place. Once done, re-install the pivot brngs and your done.
