Hello skull1829 , Was the Clutch/One-way roller bearing changed out for dc/UC errors in your FAV6800AW/FAV9800AW? If you start a Spin Only Cycle with an empty wash basket will the wash basket spin up CCW and complete the cycle?Lift the washer top from the base a few inches to observe the wash basket CCW rotation in spin cycle.If the clutch spring is broken or end pins of spring aren't seated the tumblers will rotate and the wash basket will rotate slowly CCW. IF the wash basket won't spin up can you pull the front cover off and insure the motor will rotate the clutch pulley CCW in a Spin Only Cycle?Let’s try these few basic tests and get some feedback for troubleshooting. Rich
Do you have the Service Manual?If not click on that link.Did you folks change out the clutch assembly or did you bring in a repair service? Do you want to troubleshoot the issue and do some DIY work on your part?I ask this because getting to the drain pump is a pain if it doesn’t turn on with the following test or we have start breaking apart the drain line hoses to troubleshoot a possible the drain line clog or drain pump failure.
From what you posted I understand you take no errors with your FAV6800AW regarding the no drain issue.Normally for this condition your machine would display an “ND” error to the console for failure to drain the tub.So I have to assume you have a drain pump/drain line restriction issue.I don’t understand why the machine doesn’t send a “ND” error to the console.
Let’s see if we can turn on the drain pump in Service Mode that will give me a start point for troubleshooting.With water in the tub I will have you turn on the drain pump and check to see that;
1.The drain pump motor turns on you will hear it.
2.The drain pump stream output should have a high enough flow rate to pump out 5 gallons of water in less than 30 seconds.If you can hold your drain line over a deep sink to watch flow rate that would be helpful.
From the Service Manual page 16 lower right hand part of page, Board Output Test;
With water in the tub close the lid and enter the Service Mode by pressing and holding the Enviro Plus and Spin Only keys simultaneously for three seconds or the display reads “00”
Next press the Delicates key this will lock the lid.Now press the Presoakkeythe drain pump will turn on. Stop the test as the SM states with the off button or hit the Presoak key.
Did you hear the drain pump turn on? If the drain pump turned was there any water flow out the drain pipe?Let’s have some feedback on this test and we will go from there.

This model has gone through different control board revisions, could be control board related, service mode would have to be accessed to have machine run thru self-diagnostics. if it does not agitate on self-diag mode, unit needs board
Here are some handy links if you are going to DIY the fix.
FAV6800A/FAV9800A Service Manual for reference.Sears Parts Direct for reference. Are there any unbalance error codes to the LED display such as dC or uC? When the washer stops can you place that wash load to a Spin Only Cycle and let me know if the Spin Only cycle completes.Are there any large tub swings in Spin Only cycle with that wash load that cause the Spin Cycle to stop with error codes dC or uC?
Let me know if you can to do some troubleshooting.It would require front panel removal so we can watch the Motor and verify it will rotate the Clutch Pulley CCW in the Spin Only Cycle.If you want to troubleshoot I will give you additional info to begin the process…….Rich
Thank you for verifying the model type so many folks post non FAV6800A/FAV9800A questions in this forum machine specific topic area. FAV6800A/FAV9800A Service Manual for reference.Sears Parts Direct for reference. You will need the Service Manual for support.I’m an owner like you with a solid repair skills on the machine and will try to help you DIY the repair if we can ID the issue through troubleshooting. Do you have this condition in all wash cycles?Will a Quick Wash cycle complete? Do you see the Cycle Status LED ever indicate the machine has moved to the Spin Cycle during the wash cycle? This could be a Control Board failure but we need to troubleshoot. I want to make sure the Wash basket will spin up with a Spin Only cycle selection.Can you select a Spin Only cycle with a empty wash basket.I would release the washer top so you can observe this test.I want to rule out a broken Clutch large wrap spring. Page 33 of the Service Manual will show you how to release the washer top from the base.In Spin Only cycle raise the top just enough to make sure the wash basket is rotating Counter Clock Wise – CCW with the Spin Only cycle selected and operated. If the above test doesn’t indicate an issue I would like you to try the Quick Service Cycle test on page 15 of the Service Manual and see if your FAV6800A will pass that test with no clothes in the washer.When you put the machine in Service Mode press and hold simultaneously the Enviro Plus and Spin Only keys until the machine beeps and the LED display reads 00. Then press Wash/Rinse Temp to start Quick Service Cycle test.Did the test complete with a PA indication in the display?It will only display the PA code for a few seconds.End of cycle will beep washer will unlock and Cycle Status LED will indicate complete. Waiting for your reply….Rich
Hello leaweber, Yes most times it is a Clutch malfunction .Is the machine failing with “dc” and or “UC” unbalance error codes in spin cycle?If you are you may have a Clutch malfunction or Tub Displacement Sensor failure more likely a Clutch issue. You can do a quick TDS sensor check thru the lid just follow this from the Service Manual.If you machine will pass the TDS check the next step would be to remove the clutch from the machine and inspect as I describe in this post. Tub Displacement Sensor check from the SM slightly modified; Tub Displacement Sensor Diagnostics check.This test is done with the washer lid raised see page 19 for the details. It is possible the Tub Displacement Sensor may have failed try this check which is in the Troubleshooting guide stored in your washer console or refer to the SM.
a. Enter the Service Mode by pressing and holding the Enviro Plus and Spin Only keys for three seconds or the display reads “00”
b. Press the Super Wash key display reads “in”…something like that.
c. Press Delicates the Display will show “UC” (Unbalance Closed).
d. Push tub to the back right corner of the machine the display should change to “UO” (Unbalance open). Release tub and the display will show “UC” (Unbalance Closed).
e. Press Hand Wash.
f. Pull tub to the front left corner while pushing the tub down the display should change to “UO” (Unbalance open). Release tub and the display will show “UC” (Unbalance Closed).
If you get these results your TDS sensor should be just fine. Time to look at a clutch repair/replacement. Let me know if you need help…. Rich aka dh1200s
it will fill but won,t spin, will throw out water as if it washed, then it take water to rinse but won,t spin ,then will throw out water as if it did , but clothes are soaked
i am a recently retired appliance engineer of 20 years, if the fault is not right after he has called then write to the manager of the company, if he is sole operator then write to him, explaining it like you said above, ask that the engineer stay and watch till the very end of the cycle as thats where the fault is, if he has already worked on the machine fetch them back?
alternatively just ask a different engineer who knows what he is on about,
to me this sounds like a circuit board problem either the timer or main pcb module, i presume this is a computer control washer with a digital display,
hope this has helped you at least as to where to start, thank you.
sounds like may be in clutch
see if you can help the tub start spinning when trying in spin setting...if trying to turn or turns some and stops most likey clutch slipping
The wash basket spins in CCW direction the spin cycle seems to work ok it just doesn't pump out the water thanks, Sue
