Sony vpl-px20 Projector makes a clicking sound when turned on. No picture is ever displayed. The lamp cover light is solid and the power light blinks. Is this a bad bulb or something more serious?

Sony VPL-DS100

I have solved this problem. Seems the rotating stand on the front bottom needed to be pushed and turned so that it inserts well inside. If it not well pushed the projector keeps shutting down itself every 10-15seconds. Took me about an hour to open the projector and doing all kinds of experiments to finally try that. :)

SONY VPL-CS3

Hi there

Replacing the lamp won't make any difference at all.

If you have checked the fuse on the Powersupply Board and it tested ok , then the whole Board will need replacement.
