maybe theres other parts is opened causing to blow up the capacitor. the best is to have to repair your tv to the qualified technician coming from samsung service centers in your area. that problem is easy for them.

on component your device may have to be on progressive. old dvd players you could switch back and forth on progressive and normal. the squigly lines sound like you need to make sure its on progressive. hook it up using the yellow video slot on player and tv (any cable will work). go into menu and look for progressive and change it on.

Your loss of video is likely caused by the failure of the high voltage power supply necessary for the projection CRTs in the set. The supply may be separate and user removable.
Check with Samsung and ask about a possible repair service or the replacement cost.

You need to replace both convergence ICs they are STK392-040 you can get new replacement ICs at the following link and they come with free instalation instructions with pictures and free tech support by way of instant messaging in case you need additional help. hers a link to where you can get the new convergence Ics.

If you have on-screen display change to video input and try bypassing tv tuner using audio/video cables. If no osd, problem could be shorted picture tube or problem on crt board, often caused by leaking coolant from tube(s). This is fairly common on your model. Hope I've been helpful.

The tubes on these sets can last 15-18 years. Quite honestly the parts to repair this problem aren't very expensive, just knowing where to put them is. If the problem was caught early enough, resoldereing some solder connections would probably have solved this, but now you may have to pay a repairman 150.00-350.00 Most of which is labor. Anyway, if you fix it properly you could get several more years of enjoyment out of this set. Let me know if I've helped. Good luck.

check all resisters around conv ic's, also replace ic that connects to the burnt resister.

sounds like your convergence IC's have fail and possibly a bad dcm. Some of there models have a small board with the ic's them. It may be cheaper to replace the board. But you can repair it if you have proper equipment
