Sharp LC-46SB54U Keeps losing picture intermittantly

Hi - tv loses picture (black screen) for @2-5 seconds & then returns with the 'component' display box showing in the upper righthand corner for @ 2 seconds then resumes as normal. Happens intermittantly, can go an hour without happening at all or can happen 10 times in an hour. Had the cable company out & it's not a cable problem. TV is 6 months old. Thanks

I believe your tv is getting overheated, possibly from dust getting onto the electronic components inside. or the inverter board for the lcd panel inside is going bad, alot of times it is the capacitors on the lcd inverter board going bad.

My harmon kardon av amp keeps losing its memory/settings when its switched off, it also loses audio on the 3/2/1 on the aux, dvd channel, intermittent loss of volume help, too good a system to bin thanks

could be the memory chip, I used to see this a lot with Panasonic tv's that would lose all memory settings ie channel and tuning memory, with the intermittent vol problem it sounds like dry joints in the amp section, always check the components around the heatsinks for dry joints, especially capacitors and transisters, pay to get your hands on a service manual showing all the layout and different componets.

The picture is intermittent, stays for a long time,

is the backlight staying lit even with the picture out? I had the same problem with my Aquos LC32DA5U my backlight was always on but no picture at all, just a lit up black screen, the problem is the LCD controller, I replaced that and it's perfect now.

Yes it is a temp problem as you found out for your self Great call on that BUD.. the best thing to do is contact sharp to see if they have had simular problems and if there are any recalls on this model . If not they will instruct you where to send the monitor into to be fixed.
