Marantz sr73 stand by light is on - Marantz SR-7200 Receiver

Check the cooling fan

Try pressing and holding the power, and tuner preset + and - buttons together for 10 seconds.

There are several causes of problems like this. The most common in a new receiver is that you don't have the speakers connected and it senses there is "no load" for the output. Older Marantz units are problematic with the stand-by light coming 'on' and it is simply not worth repairing them. Stick with high end brands and you won't come across this trouble which is often linked to a thermal capacitor fault. (They are round and connected by two wire poles on to the main circuit board.)

Check your speaker wires, If one has come out some where end is shorting, If that is not what happen there was a power surge that fried it,

That's why it's stand by button... it is standing by.

I am having the same issue as well. If you press "clear" "exit" and "surround mode" all at the same time, it will come back on. It seems to be an overheating issue. If you put a fan on it, it helps, but does not fix permanently. Anyone have any ideas for a permanent fix?

Are the speakers all connected properly and set to the right pair ( A or B)?

Do any lights show on the front panel such as "Stand-by"?

I've just been told by my AV person that is a known flaw in the SR5002 that the power supply runs hot, blows out, and sometimes takes out other components by cooking them. Thanks Marantz. How about a recall?

what happens when you turn up the volume... does it come back in again... if so it could be a faulty speaker protection relay, or at least dirty contacts to same. Can be fixed by burnishing the contacts.
Let me know if sharp increase of vol changes the muting problem
