Brother 3070 making a grinding noise - Brother HL 5140 Laser Printer

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but it requires the services of a brother technician

If you replaced them with original ones - contact Brother. Otherwise replace them at the selling point - cartridges are checked by printer for genuinity

The printer or the drum/toner unit may cause the grinding or clicking noise.

1. Power off the printer and open the front cover.
2. Remove the drum/toner unit and close the front cover.
3. Power the printer back on.

If the grinding or clicking noise dose not occur when the drum/toner unit is removed from the printer, then the drum/toner unit is the cause of the noise. Install a brand new drum unit and/or toner cartridge may be necessary to stop the noise.

Sound like the whole unit needs a good cleaning.
My rule is "if it moves give it a lube", be careful not to get oil on electric boards or in the motor. What is the make and model of your machine. I will try to help you more.

Brothers have a year guarantee take it back to where you purchased or call Brothers. Do not know model, grinding many times come from fuser, or drum cartridge and on many models toner cartridge....

You have a bad cartridge.

Try new toner cartridge, or even the old one if you still have it. Check if the grinding noises go away.

Does it only make the noise when printing. Do you hear the noise when sending out faxes? I have heard grinding noises onlt when using poor quality toner refills, or the fuser gear and or drive gear asm is stripped. First try a known good OEM toner.
