Unless your voicemail system has a "wastebasket" feature, you cannot retrieve an accidentally deleted message. It's gone. Not many VM systems have this feature. Cisco does, but Mitel low-end (embedded) models do not. The high-end Mitel NuPoint systems do. Older Avaya/Octel systems also do not. Contact your Voice Mail System Manager to find out what features your system has and how to access them. I've been away from this product for several years so features may also have changed. What make and model is "my" model?

To retrieve message from mailbox behind the phone:
Feature 981
Enter your password as asked

To retrieve message from mailbox that is not behind the phone:
Feature 981
Press OTHER
Log = Your ext # and password together
Press OK

Example if mailbox 100 and password 1234 then your log = 1001234

Example if mailbox 221 and password 5678 then your log = 2215678

Once a sms, or text message has been deleted, it will b moved to the deleted folder (not all handsets have this feature) and there they can be retrieved. If your handset does not have this feature, then once the messages have been deleted then there is nothing you can do.

Check your manual for the undelet, or un erase feature. If it doesn't have the feature, you can't get it back, sorry.

The display on a Nortel set will say "message for you" if there's a message in your mailbox. To access your voicemail you can press your open voicemail key if its programmed or press feature 981.If you wish to retrieve your messages remotely, call your office, when the autoattendant answers the call press ** followed by your extension number, your password then # (ex. **2231234#).

Depending on what VM system you have there is a feature # you key in.

For instance the Nortel Callpilot feature is "feature, 981" If this is your first time logging in you will have to enter a password. Contact your systems administrator to reset or set your password to never ask.
