Dehumidifier freezes up

Good Afternoon Friend,

I understand your Frigidaire dehumidifier, model# FDF50S, is freezing up. I see that the compressor does not shut off, causing ice to build up on the coils, rather than water draining off. What can cause this is your dehumidifier has been turned on recently. This is normal due to refrigerant rushing through the coil. Frost will usually disappear within 60 minutes. Another cause is if the room temperature is too low or too high. Your appliance is designed to operate between 41 degrees F and 96 degrees F. I suggest resetting your appliance, by either unplugging it or shutting the power off at your home's circuit breaker, for 3-5 minutes. Restore power and start any cycle. I ask that you please follow up with a comment on the post, at your convenience, to advise if further troubleshooting is needed or if your appliances status has changed successfully. Hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-

50 pint Frigidaire dehumidifier trips a circuit breaker

Those units are essentially air conditioners and they can use a lot of electric current when they start. Make sure it is on its own circuit and the circuit has the correct breaker on it for the load.

I have a FDL70S1 Dehumidifier. Unit runs for just a couple minutes and shuts off-blinking bucket full even though no water in bucket. Unit won't stay on

Dont spend to much time trying to repair dehumidifier they are very cheap to replace. Most dehumidifiers have lots of problems because they are made so cheap. Just replace the dehumidifier you will tank me in the end.

It starts with control set to max and it runs a couple of minutes and it stops so i turn the control to low and back to max it starts again and stops the same way the humidity is at 60+ so it should stay...

one of 3 possible problems, the control is faulty, you can bypass this with a jumper wire and see if it stays running, the condenser coil is dirty and is not cooling the compressor correctly and the condenser and evaporator coils need to be cleaned,i would do this first before bypassing the control, then possibly its low on refrigerant and the low pressure switch is shutting it down or the switch itself is faulty, please rate this if it helped you, thank you

Auto shut off comes on instantly

TURN UNIT OFF.. MAKE SURE DEHUMIDIFIER HAS NOT BEEN RUN FOR AT LEAST FIFTEEN MINUTES... TAKE BUCKET OUT... HOLD IN THE BUTTON THAT THE FLOAT IN THE BUCKET PUSHES ON.. THEN TURN ON THE UNIT.. DO NOT LET GO OF THE BUTTON EVEN A LITTLE BIT IF YOU DO YOU WILL HAVE TO WAIT FIFTEEN MINUTES AND TRY AGAIN.. IF UNIT WORKS THEN YOUR FLOAT IN THE BUCKET IS THE PROBLEM...

Dehumidifier not collecting moisture

Normal 0 When you push the power button, the blower fan comes on. In a few minutes you should hear a second "click"--that is your compressor starting. Do you hear that second click?

Dehumidifier keeps shutting itself off.

For some reason it is overheating and shutting itself off. There is a law that all electronics are supposed to have a point to where it automatically shuts off if it gets too hot from a malfunction or loose connection in the circuit board. It is to protect the consumer. You either need to take it to a tech or get rid of it. Get a new one.
