Korg Microkorg XL Vocoder Not Working (No Sound)

Everything else on the synth is working properly. Just when I set it to the vocoder it goes silent. It does not appear to be damaged at all.

Check the mic and connections all through its input into the unit. I would check the cartridge of the mic for continuity for the reason that (I think but not 100% sure) on this model, I think there has to be sound at the mic or it does go silent in vocode mode. This is how it digitizes the mic and keys together. The played keys cannot put onto pitch the sound it is NOT picking up at the mic. I think there is a problem with the mic.

SOURCE: no sound

1. plug in some headphones into the jack.
2. connect to an amplifier or external source.
3. connect midi to a midi-compatible device and determine if device receives signal by pressing keys

If #1 or #2 passes, your speakers are bad.

If #1 & #2 fail, but #3 passes, your setting are set so that there is no sound, but the keybourd still recognizes input.

If all three fail, the keys do not send a signal at all, you should replace the keyboard.

SOURCE: when i am playing around

There are many possibilities. One is static discharge... those nasty little sparks when we walk across the rug and get zapped... or we scoot a little in our chair... one''s that you can;t even feel can send electronics into a tailspin.

Another is a possible overheating someplace in the unit. However if it comes back immediately when restarting this is usually not temperature.

Your description of the problem MIGHT indicate a problem with the D-A or digital to analog convertor chip... if so it will require servicing, probably at the factory or having a board swap by a service agent.

SOURCE: I have a Korg Microkorg

same problem,
I tried spraying it with an electronic cleaner inside out, it's no use.

The solution that worked for me was taking out the Left PL line and reconnecting a couple of times. =]

this action works will work perfecting until the next time you unplug the PL.

Hello everyone. The dial on my microkorgXL which changes the operations of the knobs does not work, is it possible to fix this? Without it I can't change anything or use the on-screen editor. I haven't...

Sounds like a bad rotary encoder (the part that the "dial" is attached to"). If the circuit board or solder is not cracked in that area then that is likely the problem. You could find the part at mouser.com (about $1) and would need desolder the bad encoder and solder the new one in place or get the whole PCBA(printed circuit board assembly) from Korg.

I have a Korg Microkorg XL. The volume control is not fully functioning. It won't get really quiet or really loud.

The volume control must be have dirt in it. When you move it do you hear rustling noise. A quick spray of WD40 spray into the control will solve the problem.

Volume does not work Korg Microkorg Synthesizer with vocoder

You might try to clean it. You can buy some tv tuner cleaner at radio shack. If that fails, then the pot. will have to be replaced. If you can solder and de-solder components its not hard to change out. When you open the unit up, the volume control or POT has a ohm value. Like 200, 250 ect…. It may have a K after it, that’s x 1000. Get the right size ohm value and replace it. Hope this is helpful.
