Device will not work with 3.5mm usb connection. how do i fix

Depends on what 'will not work' means.
Basics first:
1) Is the cable good - plug a USB device that you know works to your computer with the cable. Can you see that device from your desktop?
2) Is the USB port live and functional? With a known good cable and external device, does it come up? (Might combine with (1) if you can get the device + cable to come up on another computer or USB port. If it works on another system, do you get any tone or indication from your computer that something has been plugged in? Go to the USB devices page - it's in Hardware Manager in Windows, and check that the port is being seen. If you're getting a not-in-use or warning icon for the port, you may need to go update the driver.
3) If you have the documentation, or if your GPS still has a manual (or an external charger), see how much current the device draws on the USB (it should be in milli-amps or Amps (mA or A). If it's substantial, you could be overloading the USB port with the power draw. Try plugging into an external, powered USB hub that is attached to your computer. That may do the trick.

Good Luck!

I need Fedora 15 drivers for a MultiTech MT5634ZBA modem... ugg.

You must have the most recent kernel, 2.4.2 or higher. You will also need specific modules for installation, they are explained below. The MT5634ZBA-USB has been tested successfully in Mandrake 8.1 and RedHat 7.2. Please read the whole document, as some steps depend on how the Linux system was built. You need to select the USB Modem (CDC ACM) support kernel option. If you build as modules, you need to install the acm.o option. You need to set up the device node entries for the various modems. You can use up to 32 modems with this driver. Use the following commands to set up the first four: mknod /dev/usb/ttyACM0 c 166 0 mknod /dev/usb/ttyACM1 c 166 1 mknod /dev/usb/ttyACM2 c 166 2 mknod /dev/usb/ttyACM3 c 166 3 You should now be able to use a terminal emulator program to attach to this device and connect to your modem or other terminal device. If your current version of Linux has the ACM driver compiled into it, then you're ready to roll. If it has the driver built as a module, then you'll have to enable the driver with the following command: modprobe acm At this point, you may have to unplug the modem's USB cable and then plug it back in (this isn't necessary if you're using kernel 2.4.X). You should see the modem's lights come on. If you see some activity lights on the modem, type the following: lsmod This command will display a list of loaded modules. The ACM module should be displayed as loaded. Now that you've got the driver loaded, you need to set up the device node (in /dev) for the modem. You can use up to 32 modems with this driver, but most people will only need to configure one. To set up a modem, use the following command: mknod /dev/usb/ttyACM0 c 166 0 You should now be able to use a terminal emulator program to attach to this device and connect to your modem or other terminal device. Going one step further, you can set up a symbolic link from /dev/modem to the ACM modem device. This is accomplished by using the following command: ln -s /dev/usb/ttyACM0 /dev/modem That way, KPPP and related applications can all refer to the modem as /dev/modem without caring what type of modem it is. Models: MT5634ZBA-USB If the above document doesn't get you going, send me a private email & I'll have a Multi-Tech Systems, Inc. Technical Support Rep. get in touch with you ;-)

When i connect plug 2 surf whiz USB modem to my inspiron 1420 laptop ,it want device driver..what device driver i download & instal???

Your USB modem possibly came with a cd with the driver and other utilities on it.

When your system asks for the driver:

1. insert the cd
2. point the program to the D:\ drive (assuming that your optical disc is at D:\)

if the USB modem did not come with a CD, then you will have to go to the USB modem manufacturer's web site and download the driver for that model.

I have a siemens speedstream 4200 and windowsXP.

Are you connecting the modem using a USB cable or a ethernet cable.

If its the USB cable you would need the disk supplied with it and if its an ethernet cable, no installation is required.

I get an usb device. i can't find driver.

Hi,
The Nokia DKU-5 cable is a serial cable with all the brass connectors and is usually blue in colour at the end.
That cable usually needs a driver for it and acts at the modem cable in most cases.
Right click on computer and select manage, then select device manger. Click on the + icon next to Com Ports and Modems, there you will see when a device or special cable is plugged in.
Here is the DKU-5 driver>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

How to connect usb conection from my data one "UT-300R2U" modem to compaq laptop.we have usb cable and driver cd but drivers are not installed in my laptop.plz give me the complete solution for this...

If you are using Windows Xp, just connect the modem using USB/LAN it will be automatically detected & software for it will be installed. Then you can just set up a connection, put in your username & password, done.
If you are using Windows Vista / Windows 7, modem in LAN mode will be installed automatically like XP, but not in USB mode. Because there's no USB driver for UT300R2U (BSNL modem) in Vista. You need to find a ZTE Remote NDIS device driver, install it & then you can connect. Hope this will fix your problem.

Usb problems

Due to current (amperage) limits of batteries, most laptops have VERY small current caps on USB ports. Some desktops can have 1-2 amps per USB port, but laptops are often limited to 300 to 500 milliamps. This is sufficient for most memory sticks/pen drives, but many USB devices need much more power than that. For example, external USB-HDD cases for 2.5 inch hard drives will need 100-200 mA ABOVE the rating of the HDD, which is usually 500-750 mA. Few laptops can provide that much current, or will initially provide enough to spin up, but get errors or fail to mount due to lack of power. If your USB device has a secondary power jack, use it with a 5 volt AC power supply with the correct jack polarity and current rating. You can also try a "double harness" USB cable, which plugs into the laptop with TWO USB jacks, and into the USB HDD case with one (the third) jack. This allows TWO USB ports to "double" the available current for the USB device. Best to get the specs on your laptop, see what your USB current limits are, before doing this. If each port is limited to 300 mA and your HDD is 500 mA, you will be OK, but if the HDD is 750 mA, the total of 600 mA is not going to spin up the drive.

How to Copy my files from my L6 cell to computer?

if you have an internet plan on your phone you can send that file throught it. And if your phone has bluetooth and PC with bluetooth you can sync both device without problem. Or if your phone has an external memory capable (SD,MS,Pro,MMC,XD, etc..) put that kind of memory on your phone and save to that external and transfer it to your PC.
