It's not just my phone it's all 6 we have in the building. We left Monday and Tuesday the Voicemail feature functioned as normal for all of us. Wednesday morning we came in and one of us had a voicemail but when trying to retrieve it nothing happened. (Dialed intercom 777 and no ringing, no sound) After rebooting the server downstairs it would then ring once you dial intercom 777 but nothing else happens. Today (Thursday) we came in and it's back to just no sound at all when dialing for voicemail. I don't know how it could go from being programmed correctly for 15 years and all the sudden it's not.

  1. Press Feature until the screen displaysRINGS, and the line you choose.
  2. Press a number key (1 - 7) to select the number of times the line rings before the system answers. To select Toll Saver, press 8 (the machine to answer after 4 rings when you have no messages, after 2 rings when you have messages), or press 9 (the machine to answer after 6 rings when you have no messages, after 4 rings when you have messages).
  3. Repeat Steps 1 and 2 to set the number of rings for the other line.
  4. Press Stop when you are finished.

This is all programmed in the phone system settings. Your phone can be used on different Avaya phone systems (AT&T, Lucent is Avaya now) and you can also have different voice mail systems. They all program differently.

Sounds like your phone port is not programmed to use voice mail. You can have your phone port programmed to do many different things if nobody answers. Mostly you have the call transfered to another station after so many rings. That other station (extension) could be the operator, a calling group, a voice mail box, etc... Some systems allow you to change the number of rings on a per-phone basis, others only have one no-answer timer for all calls.

You can get all the manuals from www.avaya.com for free but you need to know which system and version you have first. Programming can get very complicated and you may find it easier to hire a local phone installation company that is familiar with your system to do the changes for you.

My co-worker's voicemail doesn't pick-up until it rings 12 times. how do we change it?

From his phone, on the intercom, dial *71324 You'll hear a tone and that makes his phone ring 4 times (24 seconds) and forward.

Ringer/ Voicemail Bounceback

Well, this one is kinda tricky. If the receptionist knows there's no one there, they can use VoiceMail Transfer.

From the phone, the user can set CF Busy or CF Busy/No Answer with the following codes on the intercom:

Do Not Disturb *7101 / Cancel *7100

Call Forwarding2.gif (FWD)

– Both Calls *710
– Outside Calls *711
– Intercom Calls *712

2 (All calls) + phone no. + #/
3 (Busy) + phone no. + #/
4 (No Answer) + phone no. + #/
5 (Busy/No Answer) + phone no. + #/
7 (Follow Me) + your extension no./
8 (Follow Me Cancel) + your extension no.

So, if your voice mail is 500, you would dial *7105500# to set CF B/NA for intercom and outside calls.

The last piece of the puzzle is the timing. That's *713 (00-99). Start with 24 (4 rings) and go from there. If it hits the receptionist before the forward takes place, you probably have to adjust the recall timer for call transfer, a system program.

Lucent Avaya Partner System Lost access to Voicemail

Obviously you lost your programming. Question is whether the unit is operational. Best thing to do is contact your local Avaya Business Partner for a repair.
If you tell me your location, I can recommend one.

# of rings before voicemail picks up

Yes there is, but you have to know multiplication :-)

At the extension, from the intercom dial *713 and the 2-digit time in seconds. An internal ring cycle is about 6 seconds. I think the default time comes from the system and it may be 40 seconds.

How do I retrieve messages on the Panasonic KX-T7030 phone?

  • Call into your mailbox (usually by dialing intercom 165)
  • Press 4, and 4 again (for "Incomplete call handling")
By default, three options are enabled:
    option #1: leave a message
    options #5: call the operator
option #6: return to top menu
  • Follow the audible prompts to disable options 5 and 6

Here are some other features you may need

  • Make sure your Auto Answer button is lit up, so you can receive intercom announcements, and respond hands-free.
  • Use the Call Forwarding (FWD) to send un-answered calls to another phone or to voicemail
  • Press BGM (or 1 on the touch-tone pad) for background music, if your system is equipped.
  • Use Absent Messages to show text messages on other people's phones when you are away.
  • Use System Call Waiting so your phone will ring even when you're on the phone. Press Intercom and dial 7311 to set it up, or 7310 to cancel.
  • Use Do Not Disturb (DND) when you don't want to receive calls. Press Intercom, press FWD/DND and dial 1 to activate, or 0 to cancel.
  • Press MESSAGE when you call a busy intercom number. This will turn on the MESSAGE light on the other phone, and the other person can tap that button to automatically call you back.
  • If you get a busy signal when you call an intercom number, you can signal the other person by dialing 1 (if that phone is programmed for System Call Waiting (above).
  • Dial 330 to make an announcement to all phones.
  • If you want your phone to automatically select an outside line when you pick up the handset, press PROGRAM, dial 99, dial 12, press STORE, press PROGRAM

KX t7453 Voicemail not picking up

Try dialing 710x 165 (#) from the intercom on your phone, where x=2 for all calls, 3 for busy 4 for no answer and 5 for no answer/busy. Once you dial it, the FWD light should blink and if you press it again it will go out.

You probably just canceled the original setting.
