Try a new needle--the correct one for the fabric and thread
make sure the top thread has not come off the thread take up lever
rethread the machine top and bobbin-- using every thread guide
make sure the bobbin is turned the right way in the bobbin case
if these suggestions don't help, then taking the machine to be checked would be a good idea.

SOURCE: Machine is jamming

You need to remove the bobbin from the "race" by following the instructions in the manual. Give it a good clean and remove any bits of fluff and thread. Remove the upper thread also andmake sure that the tension wheel is clear of any broken threads and is on the correct setting. It may have been threaded wrong. The hand wheel not turning sounds like the bobbin area is jammed also.

SOURCE: my sewing machine keeps getting jammed when

Hello,
Here are a couple of things to try.

* Un-thread your machine and remove your bobbin. Clean any loose thread or lint out of your
bobbin case. Re-thread your machine, reinsert and re-thread your bobbin.

* Change your bobbin
There could be a nick along the edge of your bobbin spool that’s catching your thread as you
sew.

* When you start to sew a seam, grasp the upper and bobbin thread tails. Hold them back
and out of the way as you sew your first couple of stitches. This will keep them from getting
caught in your machine.

I hope this helps.

SOURCE: Jamming brand new machine

the tension on the bobbin case needs to be adjusted to needle size and type of fabric the medium fabrics usually use a size 11, light fabrics need a size 9 and heavy like ( corduroy denim or upholstery fabric needs a 14 or 16 Heavy fabrics need a little less tension on the top side so it will feed properly just play with it until it looks good on a scrap of the same fabric

SOURCE: The bobbin case on my Singer Inspiration 4210

unscrew the black plate that holds in the bobbin case and move it over to the left just a little bit, but make sure there is still clearance between the lower right corner of the case and the plate. The case should be able to wiggle a little, but not so loose it can pop out..

I have a singer heavy duty 4423 I am sewing a curtain out of a sheet every time I try to reverse sew my machine jams up but straight sewing seems to be ok

If your Singer Heavy Duty 4423 is jamming when you try to sew in reverse, it may be due to a few issues:
  1. Thread tension: Make sure your thread tension is not too tight, which can cause the thread to bunch up and jam the machine. Try loosening the tension slightly.
  2. Needle: Make sure you are using the correct needle for the fabric you are sewing. A dull or damaged needle can cause the machine to jam.
  3. Bobbin: Check your bobbin to make sure it is threaded correctly and is not damaged.
  4. Machine maintenance: It's important to keep your machine clean and well-oiled. A buildup of lint or dirt can cause the machine to jam.
  5. Sewing speed: Slow down when sewing in reverse. Sometimes going too fast in reverse can cause the machine to jam.
If none of these solutions work, it may be a mechanical issue with the machine and it's best to take it to a professional for repair

My Singer 9960 jammed while sewing. Now it will not run when I push the foot feed or the stop/start button.

Hi there, does the machine turn on? Do the light and screen come on when you turn the machine on? If the machine does not turn on at all, then you may have a motherboard issue. I had the same thing happen when my embroidery machine jammed. I had to have the mother board replaced. However, if it does turn on, you probably have thread caught in the bobbin area. TURN YOU MACHINE OFF. If you leave your machine on while it is jammed, you could overload your motherboard and burn it out. TAKE the thread out of the needle. TAKE the foot plate off and have a look around. Use a magnifying glass if you have one, threads are masters of hiding! Tweezers will be your best friend:) IF there are threads caught that the tweezers can't get out, while using the tweezers to hang on to the thread, rock the hand wheel toward you and away from you...even if you can only rock it a wee bit, it might be enough to free the thread. . WHEN was the last time you oiled it? I always forget to oil until my machines starts yelling at me...like freight trains. They can seize completely if they go dry. I hope something works...let us know:)

Machine is jamming. Top thread broke so re threaded and re did the bobbin, but it is still jamming every time i try to sew

just found this on the internet...
Fabric jamming in your machine may be caused by the feed dogs. The feed dogs are those tiny teeth along the sewing machineunderneath the presser foot as those teeth pull the fabric through when the needle is making stitches.24 Feb 2016

My automatic thread cutter jams in the bobbin and will not cut thread. Everything else wotks fine. This is a singer quantom 9960, have had less than a month.

If it's a new machine, you may be able to take it back to the vendor. Otherwise, it is probably covered under warranty.

Hello, My 8289 machine keeps jamming. The thread jams up under the fabric like a nest. I've tried everything and can't get it to work. Please help!!

I know that you think that your machine is threaded right, but 99%of the time it is not . You have to make sure that the thread is in discs right, going down the machine . To check it, put your presser foot up, and pull on your top thread, it should move smoothly. Now, put the presser foot down and try it again, it should barely move. Also, put in a new needle, flat side facing to the rear. If, you need a copy of your manual go to www.singerco.com and download it for free. Now, you can enlarge the diagrams of your threading path. Good luck

My new ruffling foot keeps jamming my machine

Take the foot off and check for a small burr in the area that pushes the material through. If there is a burr, it will get caught, especially on lace. The burr can be removed with a very fine abrasive stone or the emery srea from a match pack.
