SOURCE: I have a d-link dwa125

the security enabled in the router is compatible with mobile but not with computer this is the reason...check the security enabled in your router...64 bit WEP (open) security is compatible with all the wireless devices... by default some routers will have WPA or WEP(shared) security... these securities are not compatible with certain computers...

That is because your laptop has the saved connection history that you need to delete. Since your acces point does not have security which is not the same as the one that saved from your laptop. Therefore, your laptop won't be able to connect. Go to network and sharing center and from the left side of the page that came up look for change wireless adapter settings and click it. You will be able to see the connections that was saved and the top one would be your connection name. Delete that and close everything. Try connecting to your wireless network again and that should resolve the issue.

change the channel. this is a common problem when wireless routers are broadcasting on the same channel and at times, some cordless phones will interfer as well.
