Your stove should be on its own breaker or have its own fuse. Some models of stoves have fuses within their own control panels too. Check your home's panel to see if a breaker has been flipped or a fuse blown, and follow up with the owners manual for your make and model of stove.

SOME ELECTRONIC CONTROLS HAVE A LOCKOUT FEATURE THAT IS ENGAGED AND DISENGEGED BY HOLDING A CERTAIN BUTTON FOR 5 SECONDS. LOOK FOR A LOCK PAD AND HOLD IT FOR 5 SECONDS TILL IT BEEPS.

IF NOT AVAILABLE, THE TOUCH PAD MAY BE UNPLUGGED FROM THE MAIN P.C. BOARD OR MAY BE DEFECTIVE.

ALSO, TRY UNPLUGGING THE MICROWAVE FOR 5 MINUTES
TO RESET THE MICROCOMPUTER, THEN PLUG IT BACK IN AND SEE IF IT WORKS.

AN ELECTRICAL OUTLET NOT WIRED WITH PROPER POLARITY OR NOT GROUNDED CAN AFFECT ELECTRONIC APPLIANCES ALSO.

SOURCE: JVM1190 wont cook

You have a blown actuator. This is the device that creates the microwaves that cook the food. The cost of one of these will be as much as a new unit.

Assuming that your internal cooling fan is working, I would suspect that your magnetron is failing.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the
left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

I would check the cooling fan, then suspect the magnetron.

SOURCE: Microwave Oven Does Not Start Cooking

This is usually caused by either a bad door switch or a loose door switch mount, which are pretty simple problems to fix.

Even though a door switch clicks, it may still be bad inside.

Door switch or mount trouble is usually caused by slamming the door or by opening the door while it's cooking without hitting the Stop pad first.

There are plastic mounts inside the microwave which hold the door switches and onto which the door latches lock when you close the door.

The screws on these mounts may be loose. If they get too loose, the switches will not be activated properly.

Sometimes it's a broken tab on the switch holder, allowing the switch to rotate just out of position. This tab can be hard to see, since it is under the bottom edge of the switch.

One test that sometimes helps is to gently lift up (and/or push down) on the door or handle as you try to start it. If it works or tries to work, then it's a door switch mount or door alignment issue.

If you or someone you know decide to look into it, we have critical information on safety, disassembly and door switches at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa:.

If you don't find yours, or if you want to look at it without disassembling the oven, you can download it here.

If yours is not shown at the parts site or manual site linked above, Please reply back with your brand and model number so we can help you.

If you only need a switch, you can order a universal type here for $5 postpaid.

If you think the problem is on the control panel, we repair these nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid in most cases in about a week or so.

I have owned a AMC5101AAW for about three and a half years. It has been a good microwave, perfect for my needs. The display went black and the buttons didn't work right after I boiled a cup of water for...

It sounds like it could be just a bad crimp connector supplying power to the whole system, which would have to be the fuse holder on the mains input panel.
Worth a look!

I have a GE Profile Spacemaker model JVM1660SB005, maufactured in November 2000. I attempted to change a burned out bulb on the left side. I did not check the manual to see how to remove the bulb, nor...

I regularly see (and repair) this light and / or fan failure on model JVM1660SB005 and most any model of over the range microwave.
The problem is on the controller assembly, which I regularly repair very affordably.

At my Web site, you can get details, plus I have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

This light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller.

The lights can can be inoperable or stuck on or stuck in "night light" mode. Sometimes this will similarly affect the fan operation or inside light, too.

For more free DIY and other help & advice, feel free to contact me via my site.

Please include FULL model number*, FCC ID number*, + detailed symptom information. ( * on the tag in cooking cavity or around door frame or control frame or on back)

Control panel not working

If "control panel not working" means no display, clock not on, etc. but the interior light comes on when the door is opened(power is being received and transmitted from transformer\rectifier) I would check to see if power is being received by control panel(with a multimeter, checking for voltage at the input terminals). If it is receiving power but not working, the "repair clinic" on the internet is a great place to look for replacement parts.

Viking microwave has digital lights but will not turn on to cook?

Hi the problem will be with the touch panel membrane or the controller. if yoiu can hear a click when the start button is pressed then the touch panel is OK asnd you should look at the controller which can be replaced as a unit or if you are up to it it's probably the main cook relay that has failed.
