Had an issue with Uniden 7855, the phone base hand held wont work. Therefore sent it back and recieved a new one. I also have a water proof one. I de registered this one. I went through the process Here it is step-by-step: 1. Remove battery
2. Hold down the * and # buttons and reinsert battery. You should hear a long beep. If not retry. (This is a bit awkward but hold the handset upside down and it’s workable)
3. Screen will be blank. Immediately press the right soft menu button.
4. Screen will report that EEPROM is clearing and then state EEPROM Clear Ok
5. Remove battery (yes again)
6. Reinsert battery (this time there’s no need to hold down any buttons)
7. Handset will reboot with Welcome screen and then state that phone must be registered (this is the status a handset should be in from the factory)
8. Place handset on base and it will register as normal
The base station register as hand held 2 ( which is usually indictade on the WP handheld) and is functional, however I am unable to get the water proof one to function at all. Batteries are charged.
ppreciate any suggestions

The problem of phone not registering is sorted, I simply put that hand piece(2) into base station and it registered straight away, as for the "out of range" problem, we have not had a long enough call today to know yet , hopefully resetting to factory settings helped.
SOURCE: I can here them but they can't hear me
Hello,
I have the TRU9585 with 4 hansets. We used them for about 3 months, worked great. One day, I can hear caller, caller can't hear me. Problem was a defective transistor in base unit. Part number C2120, small 3 legged device near bottom of unit. Replaced it with generic NPN transistor from Radio Shack. Caution...should only attempt repair if you have worked on electronics before and can solder...Also C2120 configuration is not standard, configured emitter-collector-base instead of emitter-base-collector...Good luck!!!

It is quite possible that you'll need to go into the menu settings on your base-unit and reset the unit or restore factory default, whichever option it gives you. Also, look in the menu on the phone to see if there is an option to reset the handset also. After resetting the unit and/or handsets, try to register the handsets again, one at a time. If that still does not fix the problem, you may have handsets that are not compatible with your system, or your system may not be able to support that many phones. However, if you have the right handsets, and your system can host that many handsets, then I'm confident that resetting the unit and re-registering your handsets should fix your problem.
Hope this helps! Have a nice day!

If phone is more than 1 yr. old, battery needs to be replaced, if not reset base by disconnecting power, pressing and holding delete key while reconnecting power.
SOURCE: How to remove Uniden handset from base
The brillian people at Uniden don't feel it necessary to provide this type information in their manuals. You have to trial and error to find it, but what can you do. All you have to do to reset the base unit itself is to unplug the power, then while holding down the delete key, plug it back in. Hold the delete button down until you hear a beep, which indicates it has reset. Now you can readd handsets and they will start at 1.
