How do I Return regular keyboard functionality on Apple MacBook Air notebook

Purchased Refurbished MacBook Air. Keyboard won't function normally using keys without using combination commands. Was set up previously using VoiceOver. Although VoiceOver is now turned off and the voice audio is finally gone, the keys STILL function as if VoiceOver is on. I have to use a combination of keys for everything. Help, need the basic keyboard functionality back. What do I do??

I can type using the keyboard with a wireless mouse. But, None of the function keys work correctly, I.e. ENTER, ESC, SPACEBAR or any of the regular apple OX shortcut commands (i.e. Command + or any other. Keyboard just "makes ping sound like it doesn't recognize the keys".

The keyboard will type letters with or without the wireless mouse. Just seems to be all the function type keys just like it worked during the awFul VoiceOver setup when I set up the laptop yesterday.

Sounds like you need a new keyboard. You can get one from apple or a third party vendor. One thing you might try is re-installing the drivers for the keyboard.

SOURCE: delete key on macbook pro won't work

you may have inadvertently set up a keyboard short cut on the delete key... go to your system preference app in the dock. Then select keyboard shortcuts... if you select "default" at the bottom of the window it will revert to the factory shortcuts and eliminate any you may have accidentally created...
Hope that solves your delete issue...

SOURCE: Im having an issue with my Apple Macbook's audio

why use windows7? you paid for your macosx that comes with your macbook and mind you that macosx is a very powerful operating system and way better than windows. i suggest you use the macosx. you'd be amazed on how easy it is to use. i myself am a mac user and i assure you you'll never have to worry with viruses again. anyway, if you insist to use the windows7 i think the problem there is the driver for your audio. you might need the bootcamp driver on the cd that came with your macbook. try installing the audio driver and i am almost certain this will work. the red light shining in it is the laser used with fiber optic cables. your macbook is equipped with an optical audio port if you wanted a digital output going to your sound system (if it supports optical inputs).

Did the keyboard get wet by any chance? You'll have to replace the palm rest. If you want somebody else to do it for you go to Macbook Repair. If you want to do it yourself, here is an Macbook Repair Guide that shows how to repair a Macbook.

Return key acts as cap lock key

Go into System Preferences and select Keyboard & Mouse
Under Keyboard click on Change Keyboard Type... button
• Follow the basic steps to reset your Keyboard via the screen prompts.
Once you have done that select the Keyboard Shortcuts tab.
• Click the Restore Defaults button.

Now test your keyboard's return key. If this still does not resolve the Return key not functioning in the normal return key functionality,
Click Show All and go to the Universal Access pane in System Preferences and under Keyboard tab, make sure the Sticky Keys radio button is turned off.

Try these steps and let me know if there is any change.

My macbook keyboard got wet inside when i was clean the keyboard

pull the battery and disconnect the power first... you don't need it getting corroded inside due to electrical and temp..
Then get a compressed air can... at your local electronics store..
Blow around the h letter... see if you can force dry it a bit.
You may be able to rescue your macbook, if no luck let me know I have a good pdf of how to pull the top off your unit with step by step instructions...

On-screen keyboard problem

I think you might have your Hotkeys on, try disabling them

Hotkeys will only work while the SmartNAV software is running. Keyboard keys assigned to Hotkeys will not perform their normal keyboard function while they are being used as Hotkeys. For example, if the CAPS LOCK keyboard key is assigned to Left Click, it will only perform Left Clicks while the SmartNAV software is running. It will resume performing the normal CAPS LOCK function when the SmartNAV software is closed, or if the Hotkey is re-assigned or disabled.
