I have a kenwood tk-272g and the keys are locked and i cant figure out how to unlock them, the owners manuals ii found online aren't helping me at all

Yoou deselect key in programming. OR you press key one by one and when you see key sign dis appear,it mean your channel is unlock know.

1 try to check the volume button is not fouled.
2 try to do reset by the manufacturer. (With station stopped ,pressing the two buttons on the side station . Starts station for 2 sec. Releases the side buttons.
3 try to do the firmware update.

I take it the you require programming software for your radio, May I suggest: join yahoo group specific to your radio Make/Model, they will be able to give you all the info plus you can download manuals, schematics and other goodies.

This is commonly a sign of a bad or poorly charged battery. Check your charger, battery and battery contacts. Clean contacts with a pencil eraser. Try recharging the battery, making certain the radio is turned off while on the charger. If this does not solve the problem, try swapping batteries with a known good unit. If the swapped battery solves the problem, you know you need to replace your battery and/or charger.

If the problem remains with the swapped battery, you know you have a radio problem. In this case, you will need to look at the battery contacts on the radio, where the battery meets the radio and see if you see a problem there. OR a problem with how the battery fits to or in the radio.

If it is a radio problem, you may need to see your local Kenwood dealer for assistance.

Hin, On most new models of Kenwood two-way radios, the user can lock the MENU and up/down buttons. To lock/unlock, press on the menu button (a second or 2) until you hear a beep or till the lock icon in the display appear/disappear. Hope this be of some help/idea.
