(I am assuming you have a small space heater)There are a few reasons that you can't get heat, non of them good. You mentioned that if you hold the reset button down, you get it to come on. It could be the reset device itself. These things are circuit breakers. That being said it could also be the heating element drawing too much current. If my assumption of the small space heater is correct, a new one is in order. good luck
If it is a 110 volt unit and you connected to 220 volts, you need to replace everything that is connected to power, or at least test the individual parts. Reach out to the company.
If the unit is plugged into the proper rated receptacle and it popsthe reset in the plug without anything being turned on, it could be a faultycord.
I would first recommend that you check to be sure that the outlet is working properly by plugging something else in. If the outlet is in fact working correctly, please contact our service department for assistance 1-800-26-DANBY Thank you!
What size circuit breaker is on the generator that is tripping? You'll need a 20amp for AC alone, then consider other things that are drawing current when RV plugged in like , converter, fridge etc that may be drawing current at same time. Make sure fridge is on propane, as well as water heater if you have electric element option on water heater. AC may only draw 12-15 amps when running if good and clean and wired properly, but will draw 17-18 amps when compressor kicks in. Perhaps generator not designed for that surge?
Hi Mary, You have two separate problems there...the second one was probably caused by the first one...
The garbage disposal was running hard and pulled more current then it should have...this caused the wall switch to go bad by welding the contacts together...now the wall switch will no longer work properly.
So here is what you have... The disposal is once again working properly...you can plug it in and unplug it to operate it...
However, now, you will need to get an electrician or a friend that can change the wall switch for you...unless you are handy with electric....
Change the wall switch and everything will be back to normal again!!!
1ST MAKE SURE .(IF ELECTRONIC IGNITION, CHECK TO MAKE SURE THE PLUG FOR YOUR STOVE IS PLUGGED IN. IF IT IS PLUGGED IN AND YOU CAN'T GET IGNITION, THEN CHECK FOR TRIPPED BREAKER OR BAD PLUG IN OUTLET, OR GFCI RESET SWITCH IS NOT TRIPPED. IF ALL IS OK THEN MAKE SURE YOU ARE GETTING GAS TO THE UNIT. CHECK SELECTOR KNOB FOR PROPER OPERATION OR CRACKS TO MAKE SURE IT IS OPERATING PROPERLY. IF ALL IS OK THEN REPLACE SELECTOR SWITCH,THERMOSTAT IS CONNECTED TO THIS SWITCH.)
GAS UNIT:NON ELECTRONIC IGNITION
1ST MAKE SURE ALL PILOTS ARE LIT. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE GAS COMING TO THE UNIT. IF ALL IS OK, THEN DO THIS: REPLACE OVEN SAFETY VALVE OR THERMOCOUPLE OR ADJUST THE FLAME HEIGHT AT THE OVEN PILOT. ALSO CHECK OVEN SELECTOR SWITCH FOR CRACKS OR PROPER OPERATON. CHECK THE SELECTOR SWITCH 1ST. IF ALL ARE OK THEN TURN OFF GAS TO THE UNIT FROM BEHIND THE STOVE AND REPLACE THE SELECTOR SWITCH, THE THERMOSTAT WIRE IS CONNECTED TO THIS SWITCH.TURN GAS BACK ON AFTER REPLACING THE NEW SWITCH AND CHECK FOR GAS LEAKS.
ELECTRIC UNIT:
CHECK THERMOSTAT KNOB FOR PROPER OPERATION. MAKE SURE IT IS NOT CRACKED. IF NOT CRACKED , LIFT OVEN TOP AND CHECK FOR LOOSE WIRING. IF ALL IS GOOD, CHECK FOR CONTINUITY ON UPPER AND LOWER ELEMENTS. CHECK BY REMOVING ELEMENTS, GET MULTIMETER, WITH ELEMENTS REMOVED, TURN METER TO VOLT/AMPS AND TOUCH RED TEST WIRE TO ONE END OF THE ELEMENT AND THE BLACK TEST WIRE TO THE OTHER END. IF IT READS OR MOVES AT ALL THE ELEMENT IS GOOD. TEST THE OTHER ELEMENT THE SAME WAY. IF ALL IS GOOD, RECONNECT ELEMENTS INSIDE THE OVEN. REPLACE THE ELEMENT. YOU CAN ALSO CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE SELECTOR SWITCH WITH THE METER TO MAKE SURE IT IS GOOD BEFORE REPLACING THERMOSTAT.
the wires may not be hooked up right. make sure the red goes to red, black to black, white to white.and the green one screwed to the groung screw.
i have had this problem where all the components check out good and the power was correct, and the unit would still not heat, the end problem was the wiring from the main breaker box was incorrect and not carrying enough current to operate the machine properly.you may have to have the wiring check for proper current flow.the voltage maybe good but the amps and current may not be porper.
if you have a electric stove with the same kind of cord you can move the range out and plug your dryer in there just to check the operation of the dryer.
We did not have a charger to plug in the GPS to charge, so my husband plugged it into a battery charger. I guess the battery charger was low, so it drained the unit rather than charging it. It was so low it would not come on again. I have an electric charger that adapts the car charger into AC current, so I tried that and the unit came on. Problem solved and the GPS is working again. Thanks for responding.
If you have a clamp tester, operate the unit with the clamp tester and check the current reading. If the current reading is normal but the reset button is tipped then there is something wrong withe power plug reset button. But if the current reading is higher than the name plate rating then there is something wrong with the unit.
