Ok, here is something that just might work.

In your case the problem is not with the card but rather with your camera's card reader. This is a rather hard problem to fix yourself but here is what you can do.

Open the card slot of your camera and peer inside with a sharp light or torch. You should see a little metal tab or switch inside the card slot. This is the write protection switch. Contrary to popular belief , the switch on the card does not impact the operation of the card itself but rather tells the camera that the card should be locked by depressing the little pin inside.

If you put a protected card into a camera with no protection switch , the card would operate normally.

However , with time and repeated use , the switch will start to bend slightly until it will no longer depress when a unlocked card is inserted.

With a toothpick or needle , slightly and very gently push this tab up a little bit. (some camera's will require you to pull the tab down), This will allow the switch to operate once again and should solve your problem.

There is a sensor that tells the camera if the memory card flap is open. Perhaps the sensor is stuck, the flap is open, or the memory card is improperly inserted. The lens does need be on for the camera, and locked into place, so ditto for the lens and its' sensor.

The write protection is on the floppy diskette itself. Make sure the little sliding latch is covering the hole on the right side of the diskette. If you see through two holes on the diskette it is on write protect.
