@rkbrown1_rb

If your Dell diagnostics shows no fault on the hardware (hdd, memory, chipset, videocard, etc.) but still same issue occurs, I recommend doing another test using a different utility. Try using Hiren's Boot CD that can be found here and try running the S&M Stress Test 1.9.1 and Video Memory Stress Test 1.7.116. If your computer hangs while doing the stress tests, the video card or CPU might be failing already.

Good Luck.

Either bad RAM, overheated CPU, or a bad (or overheated) video card will cause this. Usually it's bad RAM.

I'm assuming you're running Windows 7. To test RAM with windows 7:

Method 1:From Windows 7 Start Menu
•Click the Windows 7 Start button, type memory, and click on Windows Memory Diagnostic
•When the Windows Memory Diagnostic screen loads, click Restart now and check for problems
•You computer will restart
•The memory diagnostic will run and may take some time
•Windows will restart and report any errors to you
Method 2: From Windows 7 Control Panel
•Click the Windows 7 Start button.
•Select Control Panel
•Click the System and Maintenance icon
•Select Administrative Tools
•Then, click the Memory Diagnostics Tool icon.
•Click the option to restart your computer now and run the memory diagnostics test or to schedule the memory diagnostic test to run at your next reboot.
Method 3: From Windows 7 Command Prompt
•Click the Windows 7 Start button.
•Type cmd in the Start Menu's search box.
•Right-click cmd.exe in the search results and then select Run as administrator.
•Type mdsched.exe in the command prompt and then press enter.
•Click the option to restart your computer now and run the memory diagnostics test or to schedule the memory diagnostic test to run at your next reboot.
Method 4: From The Windows Boot Manager
•Restart your computer.
•Start pressing F8 on your keyboard.
•This will open advanced boot options screen.
•Click Esc on your keyboard while you're in the advanced boot options screen.
•You'll be taken to the Windows Boot Manager screen.
•Press Tab on your keyboard to move to the Tools section of the boot manager screen and then press enter to start the Memory Diagnostics.

If you found this post helpful please give positive feedback. Thanks!

I have an HP dv6700 that won't boot windows. It's running vista 32 bit with Phoenix bios on there. I have tried a recovery disk but there seem to be no startup errors nor did it find memory nor hard drive...

BIOS diags do not test RAM's Windows functionality. Download Microsoft's Memory diagnostic too and burn to a cd. then test your memory.
To run Windows Memory Diagnostic, you must reboot your computer with the disk or CD-ROM on which you installed Windows Memory Diagnostic in the drive. After the reboot, Windows Memory Diagnostic will load and its interface will appear. After loading, the first test pass will begin, using the default standard test suite, and continue until complete, unless Windows Memory Diagnostic is either paused or exited. Once the first test pass is complete, Windows Memory Diagnostic will begin a second test pass using the same settings as before. Windows Memory Diagnostic will continue to run test passes until you exit.

How to make geforce6100pm-m2 read both memory slots

make sure your memory meets these guide lines.
? 2 x 240-pin DDR2 DIMM socket support up to 16 GB*
? * (Due to the DRAM maximum size is 2GB at present, the memory maximum size we have tested is 4GB)
? Dual-channel DDR2 memory architecture
? Support DDR2 800/667/533/400 DDR2 SDRAM
Due to the operating system limitation, the actual memory size may be less than 4GB for the reservation for system usage under Windows?32-bit OS.
For Windows?64-bit OS with 64-bit CPU, there is no such limitation
which means win xp will only read 2gig and win vist/7 will read 4g so if you have 2x 2gig and only 1 is registering its working fine with win xp.

Helo i try to play a game and i get nmi memorry parity error blah blah, with a blue screen.

There are number of things that can cause an error like this. Faulty memory, a bad harddrive, a failing motherboard, or a corrupt OS.
If you get this error every time you power on your PC than follow the below steps
It probably meant the installation itself was corrupt, not the disk you were using.

To test your memory try Windows Memory Diagnostic Test
http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp

The Windows Memory Diagnostic tests the Random Access Memory (RAM) on your computer for errors. The diagnostic includes a comprehensive set of memory tests. If you are experiencing problems while running Windows, you can use the diagnostic to determine whether the problems are caused by failing hardware, such as RAM or the memory system of your motherboard. Windows Memory Diagnostic is designed to be easy and fast. On most configurations, you can download the diagnostic, read the documentation, run the test and complete the first test pass in less than 30 minutes.

Or you can try memtest

To test your hard drive for corrupt/bad sectors find the manufacturer of your hard drive and run their Hard Drive Diagnostics Utility.

This will give us a foundation to work on and will (should) eliminate two possible sources of your problem.

No Windows of any kind

I was going to write some troubleshooting steps for you when I found this, and figured why re-do something that has already been done quite well.
http://www.aitechsolutions.net/mupdotsysXPhang.html
I son't think I could have written that answer better. From you description of the troubleshooting, I'm confident this issue is not software related. So the failure is in one of the following:
  1. RAM. I am not a big fan of memory diagnostics as the best memory test I have ever found is the Windows XP install. If the system has 2 memory modules, try them one at a time, see if anything changes.
  2. Hard drive is next one the list, only because it is cheaper than the motherboard to replace. The drive could be having cache or other on drive memory issues.
  3. Motherboard, this is my most likely failure point from what you have described. Either the video card or the motherboard chipset seem to be failing (Maybe overheating) Use canned compressed air to blow out the air intakes and exhausts and ensure the cooling fan actually runs. Reset BIOS Defaults, flash to most current BIOS version are two other MB troubleshooting steps short of replacing it.

Physical memory dump at working this error comes after 5 to 7minuts latter when system starts please help

When someone receives the error message,
“Physical memory dump ", usually accompanied with a blue screen. Chances are there is a possible problem with your memory. Before you download memory testing software, let’s try downloading some free software. RegCure is free to download. http://www.pctuneuptips.com/recommends/clean/?gclid=CL2RiIrTmpICFSFMGgodODIPzg
RegCure will clean windows registry. It will safely remove problem keys.
If RegCure doesn't fix the error message try the next link; http://www.findmysoft.com/news/Free-Software-to-Clean-your-Windows-OS-Cleano-and-Instant-Memory-Cleaner/

Lastly, download & run Memtest86+ at this link; http://www.memtest.org/
Scroll down until you see the 3 screenshots. Choose the testing software to create a bootable floppy disk. This software will test your system memory. If Memtest86 finds a problem you will need to replace the problem memory stick.
Read each site & follow their instructions.

Thank you for using Fixya.
