Vertical black line on scan or copies only. Feeder not involved. Need detailed instructions on how to remove scanner glass. to clean.
Hello James,
Please click Vertical Bands Lines or Streaks in Copies Faxes or Scans to access the troubleshooting steps that should resolve the issue.

You have something on your "scanner glass", the narrow piece of glass that the scanner "looks" through during adf use. Get some window cleaner or rubbing alcohol and clean it with a damp cloth. Often, it's correction fluid (Liquid Paper). A little dot is all it takes because the paper is traveling across the dot, effectively drawing a line down the length of the page.

It is not in the glass. More than likely it is in the rollers of the ADF feeder. If you open the cover of the ADF feeder you can see there are 3 screws (! is found under another small cover furthest to the back of the machine. Once these three screws are removed you can left the entire ADF feeder from the unit. You will then be able to clean all the rollers. Do not use alcohol as this will dry our your rollers and cause them to eventually crack. Just use soap and water to clean the rollers. Then reinstall the ADF feeder assembly back on the machine.

Under the Automatic Document Feeder is a small glass.
This glass becomes dirty, creating lines on the page.
