Phone turns off when charger is plugged in or when USB cable is connected to computer. Also, phone gets REALLY warm and battery life is HORRIBLE (requires 3-4 complete charges during the day... I use spare batteries to avoid downtime). Most important problem is cannot communicate with the phone via computer since it turns off when usb cable is plugged in. Phone stays on with USB cable connected to phone but turns off when cable is connected to computer or charger.
Sounds like you have a usb cable for charging only.You need a "2 way " usb cable,the kind used to transfer music and pictures to and from phone to computer.These one way cables are usually used in mobile chargering,as you don`t need to transfer things,just charge.Or you got wrong cable for your phone.
Does this model phone turn itself off when a charging cable is plugged in? I can charge the phone just fine, but I can't operate the phone while the charger is plugged in. That is very unusual behavior for a cell phone.

9 out of 10 your charger is not good anymore. Try another charger (similar looking chargers that can plug in will NOT work). You must use charger for your specific LG VX8300 (I used my car charger). And it works. I went to Verizon Wireless and they told me charger went bad.

You probably have the USB selection set incorrectly on the phone. Go to Menu, then Connectivity, then USB, then select "Data Service". The should fix it.

I took out the battery on a lg verizon phone oops put it back in now black nothing ?? There must be some sort of way to replace the battery that reinitializes it any help

A temporary fix to the problem is to put the battery in the freezer for a minute and then put it back in the phone and it will turn on just fine! I had an LGVX8700 and it just randomly started happening one day and my fiance told me to try doing that so i did and sure enough it worked. I had to go to verizon at one point to get a new phone because the one i had got damaged and the tech there used the same battery in my phone for the new one and he thought i was crazy when i told him to put the battery in the freezer but he was in for a surprise when he did what i told him and my phone turned on. It's annoying because you have to do that everytime your phone shuts off but i always made sure i plugged it into the charger before it went completely dead.
