Computer won't boot error code sata disk s/n 0F00-136B and many more???

looks like hardware failure.

find out what harddisk exactly you do have in the bios :
- press Del or F1 or F2 during booting, goto IDE devices, look for the model, size (in GB) etc.,
write down (the manufacturer could be: samsung, seagate, maxtor, fujitsu...)

- then change order of boot devices so that cd/dvd-rom drive and /or 3,5 '' floppy drive boots
before the harddisk, exit saving changes (F10 or Esc)

- then get diagnosis program from the harddisk manufacturer's homepage,
copy that to a bootable floppy disk or burn it to a cd-r/cd-rw which must be bootable
- boot from the cd or floppy, run diagnosis tool, both short and long test, what does it say then?
- if hardformat is available, perform one
- might work now, at least the hd will be recognized
-setup new windows installation.
have fun

Windows not startin up

The major causes of this type of problem could be either of bad harddisk sectors or currupt operating system.
1. For a Bad harddisk sector, reformating the system with the windows operating system will fix it.

2. for corrupt operating system, do the following:
i. insert the windows operating system into the CD/DVD drive
ii. restart system and booth from CDROM
iii. depending on your parent operating system, when you get to the setup page, select repair for any of windows xp, vista or 7.
iv. continue installation with onscreen instructions and that should do it.

Cheers!

To reset a password in windows7

Dear nadhivadanam,
You have to Log On as Administartor to reset the password, or there is an extreme way that is by re-installing your windows 7 and create your own Administrator password during the installation, please do it with caution, ensure that you have your important data save somewhere. Since the installation will perform the formatting the harddisk, you might lost all data in drive C: (as windows7 installed in C: local disk)

GoodLuck!
Best Regards

Windows 7 Professional - missing files

If you chose a custom installation it doesn't preserve your programs, files, or settings. It's sometimes called a "clean" installation for that reason, so your prognosis isn't good.

However If you have an old image that you created then you can use either Ghost or another image application to image browse this and restore to an USB external drive and then copy across to you new USer folder.

If you have upgraded this way without using the Windows Easy Transfer tool then I am sure these will have gone forever.

Sorry for the bad news, however hindsight is a great thing.

Need to know how to get the windows 7 upgrade

I would suggest going to the store where you bought the computer and ask them how they do it.
Alternatively, you can go to the Acer home page and there should be instructions for upgrading.
