In Windows Media Player 11, duplicate entries on playlists

In Windows Media Player 11, how can you keep from adding duplicate songs? Why isn't it like a ''folder'' such that when adding the exact same file it lets you know to replace or skip?

If you go into the "add new tracks" settings and make sure that MP11 is not looking at folders you don't want it too, I.E. backup folders on an external HDD. You have to remove the files manually or, as I did, rename or move the folder(s) with the duplicates in and when MP11 tries to play them and can't find them you can set it to delete from library automaticaly.

1.You can run Windows Media Player via choosing it in the "Programs" menu which locates in the "Start" menu or you can go through the shortcut on the computer's desktop by double click on it. If both of the two options cannot be found on your computer, the Windows Media Player can found via the folder "Program Files" in the hard drive.
2.Press on the key F3 to turn on the option "Add to Library via searching computer". Or you can choose this option in the "File" menu. Then a new window will pop up in Windows Media Player.
3.Click on "Browse" and then choose the folder which includes your music from the computer. If you cannot find your music in a single folder, repeat this step in the different folders, your music will finally be found in this repeated method.
4.The location of folder will now be listed in the dialog "Look In". Then click on the button "Search".
5.The specified folders will be scanned by Windows Media Player and the duplicates which are connected with the same files in your library will be deleted.
6.When the scanning process is finished, the remaining duplicates can be found in the library. These duplicates are actually connected to two respective folders, one can be removed and the other one will remain without any damaged by the deleted one. There are two ways in which you can add a playlist....
1......by using your playlist via the player...
2......or by creating one using the computer....

First lets see the one using the player...all you have to do is go to the song navigate option...highligh the song that you wan to add to your playlist and then click the record button.you will be given two choices..one add to my playlist and two erase.....click the add to my playlist option and you will have the song added to you r playlist.....

second method is create a normal playlist using windows media player with the correct directories in the player and then copy the file to the player...

How to get songs back in the coby mp3?

Hello,

On the MP610 you could use either Windows Media Player 11 or Coby Media Manager for transfers of songs.

Next steps are important for adding files onto the player:
1. The player should be detected in the software for transfers, when connecting the USB cable.
2. Setup your library in the software (Add to library): There has to be a list of folders in the software manager, where your music is located on the computer.
3. Create a playlist in the software: make a list of songs, you want to transfer onto your player
4. Sync the playlist onto the player.

When needing more help, just add text in this reply.

Gogear 6330/17 - Creating/Adding Playlist

You MUST use Windows Media Player 10 - Windows Media Player 9 or 11 will not transfer the playlist correctly.  Once you have version 10 installed, then the instructions in the HDD6330 user manual will be accurate.

Adding songs to existing playlists

The playlist created on this device is what I find to be really crappy. I've tried it and songs just seem to appear randomly. For this sake, don't use the playlist. Highlight every song that you want in a group in a (like in a playlist), then right-click then click properties. Go to the details tab and change the 'Album' field all at once to what you would like to call your grouped 'album'. Then when you safely remove the device, you can get all your songs in the same album!!!!

How can I delete things that show up on my mp3 but not on my computer?

You probably have your Windows Media Player set up for AUTOMATIC instead of MANUAL synchronization. When this option is selected,Windows Media Player will add EVERY song, picture, etc from your Library on your computer to the GoGear. Now, every time you sync you device, it adds every new file from your computer into the GoGear automatically.

Here's what you want to do (this process assumes you have Windows Media Player 11 and windows XP - if you have another version, just let me know and I will give you modified instructions - reply to the FixYa website, not to my personal e-mail address):
1) Backup all files stored on your GoGear, as this process will delete all files from your GoGear
2) Go into Windows Media Player 11 with your GoGear connected to the computer (it will automatically sync and add new files one last time), move the mouse cursor over to the sync tab; a small black arrow will appear under the word "Sync"; click on the small black arrow and a dropdown menu will appear; select "Portable media device" from the dropdown menu, and another dropdown menu will appear; select "Set Up sync"; a window will appear with some information on your device - uncheck the box that says "Sync this device automatically"; click Finish; This will eliminate the problem of Windows always adding songs/files you don't want into your player.

As for some files not being viewable, try simply disconnecting the GoGear from the computer and resyncing with Windows Media Player. sometimes files will be displayed multiple times, and a simple resyncing will cure the problem. Otherwise:
You must use Windows Media Player to delete songs from the GoGear. With your GoGear connected to the PC, you want to highlight (single left click) the icon of the GoGear (or line that says Philips GoGear blah blah blah) on the left hand side of Windows Media Player 11 - this will ensure that you are deleting files from the GoGear itself, and not the computer. Once the GoGear line is highlighted, click on the "Songs" or "Album" folder underneath the GoGear line (NOT the "Songs" or "Album" folder underneath the "Library"). This will bring up a list of songs stored on the GoGear into the middle pane of Windows Media Player 11. Highlight (single left click) a song you want to delete and press the delete button on your computer's keyboard. windows USUALLY gives you a prompt asking if you really want to delete the files/they will be permanently removed from your (GoGear) device. Congratulations, you have just deleted songs from your GoGear! :-)
