Must use included HP "starter ink" cartridges before the CISS can work. There's a 3-button sequence [OK-Cancel-Black Button] sequence when powering on that will reset the printer and bypass the "starter ink" wall you're hitting

Why does my HP C7280 All-in-One printer fail to print red and magenta and prints green instead of white backgrounds?

or be primed to work & yours just did not complete it on its own. Have you inserted all 6 inks ? They need to be in to have ink to prime the machine. Try holding down the ok -- cancel -- black -- color buttons with 4 fingers while at the same time powering the unit off. Keep them held down till it is off. Then turn it back on normally & it should try to do "Maintenance" & you hear a whirling noise --- that is the ink pump spinning to try & pump in ink to the print head. If all fails you may have a bad printer out of the box.

Ciss and refillable cartridge systems

Depending on printer brand and model, there are lots of ciss (continuous ink supply system) solutions to buy.<br /><br />Bare in mind, though, if you are planning to use printer heavily, there are other considerations you should think about:<br /><br />1. If not used regularly, an air bubble may occur and it takes a while to pop it up. Also ink may dry in certain area and it's a mess to resolve.<br /> <br />2. The ink supply (depending on supplier) may not be good as the original; color depth and durability wise.<br /><br />3. Cartridge recognition problems may occur from time to another, so it must be removed and inserted again.<br /><br />4. CISS system usually have a chip to fool the printer and it may fail with any liquid contact.<br /><br />5. ink pad inside printer fills quickly on heavy use, thus its wise to direct the pipe into an external tank (found inside and in the back of printer for Epsons) <br /><br />In conclusion, if you intend to have more than 100 pages/month, consider compatibles or refillable cartridges. ciss is good for +200 pages/month.<br /><br />e.g. (epson rx685 blanks out all 6 cartridges except for the black after 10x15 photo's in with high quality enabled)<br /><br /><span style="font-style: italic;">Please note that these tips are based on experience with 4-6 cartridge systems for Canon and Epson printers.</span><br /><br /><br />If you find this informative, kindly <span style="font-weight: bold;">vote positively</span> for me to continue sharing. Good luck and thanks.

Is your friend use CISS. If so
Move Ink cartrige holder to cartrige change station.
Put off cartrige ( genuin or CISS) from carrage
Take a soft erager try to remove dry in or dust or waste everything smothly
reassemble the cartrige again
push top of the cartrige gentaly sothat it struck acurately.
Turn on printer.
I think you will get rid from your pprinter problem.

Ink system failure

Hello,

The ink system has to pump up or be primed to work and yours just did not complete it on its own. Have you inserted all 6 inks ? They need to be in to have ink to prime the machine. Try holding down the ok -- cancel -- black -- color buttons with 4 fingers while at the same time powering the unit off. Keep them held down till it is off. Then turn it back on normally and it should try to do "Maintenance" and you hear a whirling noise --- that is the ink pump spinning to try and pump in ink to the print head. If all fails you may have a bad printer out of the box.

Hope this helps,

My magenta ink is not showing up on the diagnostic test. Print is coming out with alot of green and blue colors. I have a C7280 Hp all in one printer. Mickey

Use the HP Printing Assistant software to run a "nozzle check" -- to ensure that each of the 3 ink-jets is not CLOGGED, and therefore is not jetting ink onto the paper. If necessary, run 3 (or 6) "head-cleaning" cycles.

Then, try a different tri-colour ink-cartridge.
