What could be my problem on apps&drivers that will not install and ones that do wont run

Reason Is Simple! If You Haven't Already Known, Windows XP Service Support Ended 2 years Ago, And Basically When you install Software And or Drivers for a Windows XP Computer... it Will Not Run Due to them being incompatible or Not Supported Due To Microsoft Canceling Support.

My windows xp home is slow on loading websites as compared to other machines on the same wireless. What could be the reason for this

There could be many possible reasons for your machine being slow loading websites:

- Do you have a lot of programs running in the background?
- Are you using the same browser as the other machines on your network?
- Does your computer have as much RAM as the other computers?
- Is your wireless adapter as fast as the adapters on the other computers?

Install xp on vista home basic toshiba satellite L-40

Yes, Vista Home Basic is junk!

1.Vista is considered an upgrade, compared to Windows XP. Therefore, Vista is not just going to let you install over it.

2.You have to get your Windows XP drivers back.

This is a pretty intricate operation, but once you have detailed information, it becomes do-able.
Below is a link with detailed information, and concise clear illustrations. I felt it would be better to give you this link, to avoid any confusion, and/or misunderstanding of information from me.

Should get you on your way!

Vista RAM usage ?

The minimum recommended ram for Vista is 1 GB, generally accepted practical minimum is 2 GB. A 1 GB system will be kinda laggy. Maximum RAM for 32 bit Vista is 4 GB.

Vista Home Premium is roughly equivalent to Windows XP Media Center Edition (Has Media Center, cann't be put on a DOMAIN type network)

Vista Business is roughly equivalent to Windows XP Professional (Can Join a Domain, Doesn't have Media Center)

Vista Ultimate has all available freatures of Vista, you can do any windows function with Ultimate

.msc applications not opening

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Probable reasons are:
  • you are logged in without administrator privileges;
  • antivirus and/or anti-malware is preventing;
  • virus infected;
  • services disabled.
Solutions:
  • reboot and log in as Administrator or give your username administrator privileges;
  • temporarily disable antivirus and/or anti-malware;
  • scan, clean;
  • enable, in Services tab of msconfig in Start/Run
Just a start, do postback how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

Compaq Presario 5000 PC Desktop MV740

I did think Windows Xp even run on a 64K memory!!
the reason you are getting the error, because the size of meomries.
Here is the thing, lets say you get a working copy of the Windows Xp, and installed it. your machine is going to about half hours to come up, it is going to take longer if you go on the Internet. (5minutes per page).
by the way presario 5000 dated back to Win95. maximum memory is 512MB. which is minimum requirement for WIndows XP.
The cost for upgrade your machine to minimum specification is not really worth. you are going to have to get a new one soon.
the reason for this, is all of the software and Internet web applications are running at a 2007-2008 software, the machine you are using will never be able catch up to it. (todays standard).
My suggestion: if you can affort it, get a new or refurbished one with minimum specification (e-mail me at [email protected], if you want the specs.) you will be much happier.

I Have Problem On Startup

Dear sir/madam,

it is a basic startup problem with that application. so, you can solve this easily.but, you have to do or know something about microsoft configuration.

In the start menu, go to run and type the following command,

                       msconfig

then click the startup tab. here you have to find that antivirus application name or related name.

(for example: xxx.exe, xyz)

if you find that exactly, then uncheck the box of that application name. give apply and ok.

you need to restart the computer now, if u have no problem to restart now means, you can do that or after some time.

after restarting the computer, the microsoft configuration application comes automatically in the desktop.

now you have to check the box in the front of ms configuration and give ok.

hereafter, it wont starts.

thank you.
