Unable to download from disc Printmaster v.18.1 despite being led to believe its compatible with Windows 8

My PC is having problem with downloading the Microsoft Net v1.1 framework which is included on the disc, can you help please.

Printmaster 18.1 is not really compatible with Windows 8. Here's a link to a possible solution directly from Broderbund. You can try it, but you might be out of luck.

The upgrade path is to Printmaster Platinum 18.1 or Printmaster Platinum 2.0. I'm not sure which is better for you but both are $39.99 from http://www.printmaster.com/ .

The installers for Windows have changed over the years. Your alternatives would be to use a dual boot or virtual computer with XP installed. Win7 Pro and Ultimate allow you to run XP mode free after downloading two programs from Microsoft. All the other options require a licensed (paid) version of XP.

The compatibility mode is available but I'm not sure it will work in this case. You would need to right click on the installer and choose Properties. Then go to the Compatibility tab and chose an older version of Windows (Win98 may be a better choice than XP). Then right click on the installer again and chose Run as Administrator. Then you will need to do the same thing with the actual program.

Printmaster platinum 8.0 is rather an old 16bits software and it is not compatible to your new version Win 7 OS.

You can check software compatibility @ Windows 7 Compatibility Center

Your option is to upgrade to version 18 which is Win 7 compatible.

Maybe, It doesn't work because the driver/application you installed is for other versions of operating system. I am also using windows 7 like you so don't you worry, You can still use your old installer/driver from other versions of operating systems. Just remember that before installing any program in a windows 7 Operating System Computer, Use "troubleshoot compatibility". Right Click the Icon of your program installer/application first, then choose "troubleshoot compatibility". This will allow you to choose on what type operating system your program will run. Just got Windows 7 and trying to install printmaster gold 17...won't work. what do i do?
Windows 7 has a compatibility wizard that you can use to help install it. Go to start, control panel, and then type in troubleshooter in the search box. Under programs, click "run programs for other versions of windows." Follow those instructions. If you need to browse to the setup file on the disc, do so. If that does not work, you can go to Broderbund's web site. They have a compatibility update for Gold 17 on their website. Unfortunately it is for Vista, but it still might help you with the compatibility issue
