Charger is no longer working

I have an acer aspire 7720. There has been no problems up until now. Now when the charger is plugged in everything is connected, the computer does not recoginize that the charger is plugged in and does not charge. If I wiggle the charger just right it charges for a second then goes back out. It often does not charge shut down either except for rare occasions. I have increased the usage lately, I am not sure if it could have affected the charger.

The problem is the charging connector on your laptop.that pin may loosy connectivity between the pin and the printed circuit board.resolder this pin .if the pin(charging connector ) is damaged replace it. and one more ..first you check the charger's DC out cable . shake gently at the end of the dc cable which is connected in the laptop.if it is loose contact in the cable ,the power LED on your laptop is blinked or glowing.if yes, replace the charger.

Oh, believe it or not. My computer use to do the same thing all the time. Just take the prongs on the plugin and bend them outwards slowly. This will make a tighter fit in the outlet.

Screen only lights up on battery power but no ac adapter/charger tried three ac chargers all do the same thing so its not screen or charger

Hi David
It sounds like a fault to its power transition section circuit. Actually, this circuit is built inside the mother board to your laptop.
Please contact the authorized service center, and describe and show them the problem you do experience now, with your laptop. It can be rectified. Gopakumar Gopalan Google

Acer aspire 5332 plugged in but not charging

it sounds like one of three things:

1. Battery itself no longer functions
2. Laptop Charger has inadequate amperage
3. The motherboard is defective (most likely).

If you have another battery, or a friend with the same battery, you can try that first (and someone else's laptop charger).

Take the battery out. Unplug the charger from the computer. Press the On button for 30 seconds. Then plug the charger in. If it works, then put the battery back in and you're in business again. If it doesn't work, the most likely cause is the laptop charger. Use a new one to confirm:

The charger looks just find but doesnt charge the battery.. i bough a new battery and still the same problem ... i tested the charger voltage an dis find .... i removed the battery from the laptop and...

Its the laptop's power plug, you need to change it with a new one or fix the present, sometimes the problem is a small safety diode near the plug that it operates as a safety fuse. Go to a technician for this.

My acer aspire 7720 wont come on. i tried it without the battery just the charger but nothing. i plug the charger with the battery and it charges the battery but wont turn on.

It sounds as though you have a problem with the power button itself, this is on a small cicuit board beneath the top panel where the button is situated, these boards are not too expensive and eay to change providing you are competant with a screwdriver. If not I would recommend that you get a technician to take a look.

Acer 7720 will turn on and work for about 5 mins and shut down

In most cases I have found that this problem stems from a bad charger not delivering the proper amount of voltage. Therefore the battery doesn't ever really get a full charge even though the power indicator may say it does. I would get a multi-meter and check the voltage at the charger tip and see if the power is fluctuating. Be careful regardless, a bad power unit may spike and terminate your motherboard.
