Sony kv27xbr95s The tv would shut itself off after turn on and then turn ona and off untill it stayed off. I cannot get it to turn on now. I suspect a bad capacitor in the switching supply but have not tested any yet. I di have an ESR tester. I am wondering if someone else has had this problem and could point me to the correct cap. ...tnx............. Hank

Hi, If tv shuts off and turns back On itself than lamp is weak and need to be replaced. If tv shuts off but does not turns On itself than you will see red light blinking on tv front, let me know how many times it blinks, there would be pause of 3 seconds in blinks so count pause to pause and post here to provide you helpful info about problem. Thanks.
Hi,
Lamp of TV getting weaker and requires replacement. This shut off by itself will increase day by day until you put new lamp in TV.
Always Buy Sony original lamp and avoid aftermarket/ cheap lamp for TV safety.
Check your CRT boards on the end of the tubes for burn spots, and burnt components, check the resistors to make sure they are not shorted, burnt, and they read the correct resistance. Check the diodes to make sure they conduct in one direction only and are not shorted or open.
Could be loose connections on the board where the solder is expanding as it heats up causing a loose connection or something in the power supply or horizontal is over heating and your tv is going into shutdown protection . Good luck
